Excessive torque and corrosion cause the exhaust manifold bolts on the GM LS series engines to break, causing exhaust leaks at the manifold and potential cracking of the manifolds. GM solved PART if the issue in 2006 when they released updated bolts that were 10.9 strength and a revised installation procedure that included the use of high temp threadlocker and a lower torque installation. (Lower torque allows natural expansion and contraction of the headers without stressing the bolts, bolts that are too tight will stress under expansion and contraction causing them to break over time) However, GM did not address the corrosion issue... Exhaust Manifold bolts require a very specific metal formulation along with the correct coatings to ensure long life and easy removal when necessary. This set has it all, the correct metal formulation along with the correct coatings to ensure you won't have problems down the road. Simply apply a fresh bead of high temperature threadlocker and torque to spec for long lasting performance and results.
