This is an original GM Carter WCFB 4 barrel carburetor. The front driver's side mounting foot is stamped 3362S BB3 as shown. The 3362S is the Carter model number. The 3362S carburetor was used by GM on 1962-1965 409 2x4 carburetor engines as the rear carburetor. The BB3 is the date code. It decodes as follows: A = second design revision, B = February, 2 = 1963. That's right, this is a real deal production dated carburetor. Talk about a rare find!
This carburetor is in very good original condition as shown. This recently came off of a hot rod 283 engine that was built in the early 60's and broken in with the plans to install it in a 32 Ford which never happened. The engine sat unused in cool dry storage until this year. The last few pictures show this carburetor installed on the 283 engine as it was found. I believe this carburetor was bought brand new from Chevrolet to install on the 283 engine. I believe this carb has break in time only on it. This is an awesome survivor carburetor.
This carb is in very good survivor condition as shown. It appears to be totally complete less choke parts. The carb has awesome original finish throughout. All parts move freely. After sitting for decades, I imagine this carb will need new gaskets and seals. This is a very nice original carb!
