Symptoms of exhaust system failure:

1. The car is weak in acceleration, and it is difficult to increase the engine speed and vehicle speed. This is because poor exhaust results in less intake air and lower engine power.

2. Frequent forced downshifts of automatic transmission vehicles.

The engine power is reduced due to the exhaust blockage. In order for the car to have more power output, the driver must step on the accelerator deeply to open the throttle valve. Therefore, the ECU controls the automatic transmission to force a downshift according to the open state of the throttle. .

3. There is a slight backfire phenomenon when the engine is refueled rapidly.

When the engine exhaust is not smooth, part of the exhaust gas will stay in the cylinder, which will make the mixed steam leaner and the combustion speed will slow down. When the intake valve is opened, the mixed steam is still burning. Therefore, the combusted mixed steam will flee back into the intake pipe through the opened intake valve, resulting in flashback.

4. When the engine accelerates or closes the throttle sharply, you will hear the sound of the exhaust pipe clattering.

This is mostly a symptom of the damage of the three-way catalytic converter, and the broken three-way catalytic converter can easily cause the engine exhaust to block.

5. When the engine is misfired, the exhaust air flow is uniform and there is no "burst" sound.

When the engine exhaust blockage is more serious, perform the cylinder cut test, you will find that the engine shakes obviously, but the exhaust air flow of the car is very uniform, and there is no "burst" sound due to the lack of cylinders of the engine. This is because the blocked exhaust pipeline has greatly attenuated the fluctuating exhaust gas flow generated by the lack of cylinders in the engine, which has created the illusion of "end air temperature and harmony".

6. The engine both injects fuel and ignites, and the compression pressure is also sufficient, but the engine just fails to start. This is usually a symptom of complete exhaust blockage.

Accurately capturing these symptoms is very helpful for diagnosing and eliminating exhaust clogging. However, it should also be noted that although these symptoms are caused by exhaust blockage, other car faults may also produce these symptoms. Reasons for exhaust system failure:

1. If the oil quality of automobile gasoline is poor, it may cause abnormal mixing ratio, electronic spare parts failure and abnormal exhaust system;

2. The electronic components of the intake and exhaust system are faulty, such as the oxygen sensor, the canister solenoid valve, the air flow meter sensor, the solenoid control valve adjustment on the turbocharger, the throttle valve or the carbon deposit inside the engine, etc.;

3. The engine control program needs to be updated or adapted for debugging.

How to check the exhaust system failure?

1. Check the spark plug and sub-cylinder line. Whether the gap of the spark plug meets the original technical standard, whether the resistance value of the sub-cylinder line also meets the technical requirements, if not, it needs to be adjusted or replaced.

2. The fuel pressure system needs to be tested. Check fuel pressure gauge and fuel pressure gauge assembly, connect fuel pipe and fuel gauge. Start the engine and let it enter idling operation, the fuel gauge reading should be in the range of 270~320kpa. If the pressure exceeds the technical specifications, the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter need to be replaced.

3. Check the air nozzles of each cylinder. Put the engine into idling operation, disconnect each injector plug separately, and check whether there is any change in idle speed. If the injector of each cylinder is disconnected and the idle speed decreases basically the same, it means that the injectors are working normally. When a certain fuel injector is disconnected, there is no change in engine idling speed and its stability. It is necessary to measure whether the resistance value of the fuel injector plug is 10~13, and if it does not meet the standard, replace the fuel injector.

Of course, it is also necessary to check the wire between the PGM-FI main relay and the plug connection point, and whether the wire between the plug connection point and the fuel injector is broken, or the connection is poor.

4. Check the fuel pump and fuel pump circuit. Fuel pump inspection: Unscrew the fuel tank cap and when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the sound of the fuel pump running can be heard at the fuel filler port. Under normal working conditions, when the ignition switch is ON, the fuel pump should run for 2 seconds bell. If the fuel pump does not work, first check whether the fuel pump insurance is burned out. Check whether the PGM-FI main relay is connected to the plug terminal and so on.

5. Secondly, check the cylinder pressure, the gap between the intake and exhaust valves, the fuel vapor control solenoid valve, the working condition of the EGR valve cylinder, and whether the intake manifold is leaking.

Exhaust pipe removal steps:

1. Disconnect and disassemble the heated oxygen sensor;

2. Remove the front exhaust pipe nut and gasket from the catalytic converter;

3. Remove the front lower exhaust pipe bracket;

4. Remove the front exhaust pipe from the upper front exhaust pipe mounting frame;

5. Remove the front exhaust pipe from the rubber lifting ring at the connection between the front exhaust pipe flange and the third muffler flange; 6 remove the front exhaust pipe flange to the third muffler flange fixing nut

7. Disassemble the front exhaust pipe and gasket;

8. Clean the front exhaust pipe flange and exhaust manifold sealing surface;

9. Check the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter or the third muffler for holes, damage, cracks, or other damages that cause exhaust gas to leak into the passenger compartment or trunk.

Installation steps of exhaust pipe:

1. Install the gasket between the flange of the third muffler and the flange of the front exhaust pipe;

2. Muffler pipe before installation;

3. Install the front muffler pipe to the third muffler fixing nut. Fasten the front muffler pipe to the third muffler nut to 30N-m;

4. Install the front exhaust pipe to the rubber ring;

5. Install the front exhaust pipe into the front upper exhaust pipe mounting frame;

6. Install the front lower exhaust pipe mounting bracket to the front exhaust pipe;

7. Install the front lower exhaust pipe mounting frame to the welding bolts of the front upper exhaust pipe mounting frame with nuts. Fasten the nut of the front lower exhaust pipe mounting bracket to 30N-m;

8. Install the gasket between the front exhaust pipe flange and the catalytic converter;

9. Install the front exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter with a nut. For general models, tighten the front exhaust pipe to the flange nut of the catalytic converter to 40N-m.
