This lock cylinder may not look like your current lock. Do not be alarmed by the differences. This lock is the redesigned version made by Strattec. A GM recall some yearsago is the reason for this redesigned lock. It works better and less likely to hang up than the original design. BUT...because it is made differently...it also installs a little differently.
Occasionally customers say that they cannot get the lock cylinder to turn back to the OFF or LOCK position. This is NOT the fault of the new lock cylinder.....it is because the shifter interlock solenoid is preventing the lock from turning back. Sometimes it is simply because the battery is disconnected...the solenoid needs power to operate. OR... it may be that some part of the shifter interlock mechanism is broken or needs adjustment.
We have sold over 960 (nine hundred sixty) of these over the last 10 years on ebay. Have confidence the lock is correct....just needs correct installation. See second picture for recent positive feedback from customers buying this lock.
