Twin Turbo V8 Camaro vs. Big Turbo AWD Honda Civic – Drag Racing

September 21st, 2023

Here we have an import versus domestic throwdown on a closed course. The Hoonigan group have put together this turbocharged matchup and it is off the chain. Let’s have a look at the machinery.

In the left lane is the 1993 Honda Civic EG. Far removed from a docile sub-compact hatchback, this asphalt alligator features an all-wheel drivetrain with a 5-speed manual transmission. Scavenged from various Honda models, the all-wheel drive setup gives this car a distinct advantage when grip is difficult to find. The engine is a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder Acura with a big turbo. He’s claiming 900hp but could be playing possum. Drag slicks from M&H adorn all four wheels.

Bringing up the right lane is the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro claiming 3,000hp. Under the hood is a fully built LME 7.0-liter all-aluminum V8. Twin 60-millimeter turbochargers provide forced air induction. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic, and the rear end is a four-link solid axle setup. The rear-wheel drive Camaro has slicks in the rear (of course). This Camaro has run 204 mph in the half-mile and posted a 7-second pass in the quarter-mile. Not too shabby at all.

Time to hook ‘em up and see who wants it most.
