Turbo Silverado Sleeper – Too Much for the Street?

This video is an update on the Ugly Truck project. We follow along as LT details the build and shows us why the Silverado Sleeper pickup may be a bit much for the street. Too much power? Banish the thought.

At the heart of this project is an engine swap. Out came the small block LS motor and in went an 8.1-liter big block truck engine. After a brief (150 mile) testing period to make sure the motor could take big boost, it was removed and updated with a Comp Cams camshaft and valvetrain. The stock intake manifold was ported, and an oversize throttle body was bolted on. Finally, an 80-millimeter turbocharger and intercooler were added. Other mods include a remote catch can, remote overflow cannister and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Now, we are ready to make some serious power.

A total street sleeper, the Ugly Truck has a complete exhaust system with a full interior.

Radials are standard fare for the street. A set of Mickey Thompsons are reserved for drag strip duty.

Buckle up and let’s see what LT is all wound up about.
