Tricked Out Chevy SS Dominates Sin City

June 21st, 2023

This stock Chevrolet SS sedan wasn’t fast enough for New Era Performance so they juiced it up a skosh. Looking like a beast of a grocery getter, the New Era Chevy rolled into LS Fest with a twin turbocharged all-aluminum 7.0-liter engine between the fenders. The block is Dart Racing (built by Late Model Engines) and the cylinder heads are Brodix BS7s. The turbos are 76-millimeter, and the transmission is a TH400 auto. Fastest quarter-mile pass for this car is a 7.61 @ 183 mph. That is good enough for a World Record in a Chevrolet SS. Now, run tell ‘dat.

Running on the eighth-mile, the SS posts an initial pass of 5.47 @ 137.26 mph. That earns the New Era team a win and a ticket to the second round.

After some technical difficulties in the next rounds, the SS is back on the track in the heat of the day. He’s drawn a serious looking F-Body in the 5.50 Class. It’s time to put-up or shut-up. With another solid pass, the Chevy wins a close round and posts a 5.504 @ 137.89. It don’t get much better than that.

A Mustang lines up against the SS this round. Think he can break the Ford curse and advance towards the finals?
