Tesla Model S Plaid vs. Bugatti Chiron – Drag Race

September 27th, 2023

This contest gives the term “big money race” a whole new meaning. You see, the machines involved are worth a fortune. Can you say sticker shock? The Bugatti comes with a sticker price of approximately $3.8-million. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Tesla Model S Plaid with the Track Pack only costs about $130K.

More than your average golf cart, the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack comes with a top speed of 200 mph. The track Pack yields a carbon-ceramic brake package with six-piston forged front calipers, four-piston forged rear calipers and high-performance pads as well as 16.1-inch carbon-ceramic front and rear rotors. The wheels and tires are also special in the Track Pack car which also offers more aggressive suspension modes.

Powered by a trio of electric motors, the all-wheel drive Tesla Mode S Plaid can generate the equivalent of 1,020hp and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.1-seconds. Yes, it’s fast.

Oh, the Bugatti, The French made Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is a work of art. Equipped with a mid-mounted quad-turbo W16 engine that can make 1,578hp, the all-wheel drive Chiron can bolt from 0 to 60 mph in 2.2-seconds. It has a top speed of 273 mph.

I can’t stand the suspense any longer. Let’s get to the racing.
