Supercharged 1969 Camaro Z28 vs Turbo Civic Type R – Roll and Dig

September 13th, 2022

It has been said that there is no substitute for cubic inches. That is an opinion likely shared before the days of massive power adders, slab-style intercoolers and sophisticated nitrous foggers. In the modern world – depending on type of race and distance raced – a small motor with forced air induction can dominate on street or strip. Consistent winners combine big cubic inch motors with extravagant power adders to annihilate the competition.

This clip brings us a battle between a big V8 powered Camaro muscle car and a late model turbo Honda. The wildcard here may be the fact that the Camaro is also equipped with a supercharger. Let’s have a closer look.

The import is a simple story. It’s a 2018 Honda Civic Type R with a stock engine and manual transmission. The turbo is a Garrett G25. This little grocery getter is capable of producing 500-550hp.

The 1969 Camaro Z28 is a restomod with an LS3 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. Called his Sunday Cruiser, the owner says the car can make 500hp.

Enough talk. Time to bust the gas!
