Godzilla Mode – Farm Truck Gone Haywire

Today, we visit Brenspeed and get a good look at a 1979 Ford F-150 build. This old farm truck has been souped up with a major steering and suspension package and it’s been swapped to a Ford Performance Products crate motor. This project embodies the phrase “Go big or go home”. On the agenda for today is a thorough walk around of the truck along with a dyno pull. Take a look.

Of course, we will begin with the engine compartment. Under there, we find a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter Ford Performance Godzilla crate motor. The intake manifold has been upgraded with a Ford Performance unit and a Kong throttle body as well as a Texas Speed Stage 2 truck camshaft. The overhead valve engine consists of a cast iron block with aluminum cylinder heads. The crankshaft is forged steel, and the pistons are cast aluminum. This FPP crate motor package comes with exhaust manifolds, an 8-quart aluminum oil pan with integrated oil cooler, ignition coils (and wires) and a flex plate. This one also included a cold air intake kit. Right out of the box, this port fuel injected engine is good for 430hp and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. Compression is 10.5:1. Brenspeed installed a heavy-duty Adler radiator, Stainless Works exhaust headers and the engine accessories (alternator, power steering and water pump) are from Holley.

The manual transmission is a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed. The rear end is a Moser (Ford) 9-inch with 4.10:1 gears.

A dyno pull is next. With all the upgraded parts this motor posted some pretty impressive numbers at relatively low RPM. How’s 505hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels? That dog will hunt every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The suspension (front and rear) has been upgraded with QA1 rack-and-pinion, tubular control arms and sway bars. The brakes are vented and drilled disc from Wilwood. There are drag radials on the rear with semi-skinnies in front.

This truck is a masterpiece in the true street sleeper form.
