Dragstrip Grudge Racing – Camaro ZL1 vs. Hellcat Redeye

May 1st, 2021

Here, we have some good old “call out for the ball out” grudge racing from the local dragstrip. Featured are a pair of modern-day production muscle cars that frankly put sixties-era muscle cars to shame. Without further ado, let’s get down to where the rubber meets the road.

In the right lane is the 17-year old Candyman (due to his resemblance to a young John Candy) and his 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The ZL1 is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 rated at 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 10-speed automatic and the Candyman Camaro has been modified for performance. The Camaro weighs in at 3,883-pounds.

On the left is the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye. Also powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter (HEMI) V8, the Hellcat Redeye is among the most powerful production sedans ever. Maximum output for the Hellcat Redeye is 797hp and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. The Dodge tips the scale at approximately 5,500-pounds (nearly a full ton more than the Camaro ZL1).

There’s an abundance of bonus action on this clip. It includes the ZL1 versus the Home Depot Silverado and a pack of angry drag bikes.
