Dodge Challenger R/T Gets E-Force Blower

Today we join the crew at Horsepower TV as they modify a Dodge Challenger SRT8 HEMI with an Edelbrock (Eaton) E-Force supercharger kit. As an added bonus, Vic Edelbrock is on hand to guide us through the installation. All 140+ steps are carried out in this installation tutorial and the production values are extraordinary! After the new blower kit is bolted on, these guys are also going to treat us to a dyno test to demonstrate just how much more efficient the E-Force makes the big HEMI.

Heads up; this is technically a Dodge Challenger SRT8 as is evidenced by the presence of the 6.1-liter HEMI – as opposed to the 5.7-liter HEMI in the R/T. The 6.1-liter has a larger bore and lengthened stroke as well as revised coolant channels, a forged crankshaft, lighter pistons and stronger connecting rods. The SRT8 mill nets 425hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (at the crankshaft).

A preestablished baseline for this car was 365hp and 367 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels. When the Horsepower TV team gets finished, this red Challenger is boasting a performance gain of approximately 100hp and 100 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels. Now, that is an attention-getter!

Spoiler alert: There’s a bonus piston tutorial at the end of the video.
