Heads up; this is technically a Dodge Challenger SRT8 as is evidenced by the presence of the 6.1-liter HEMI – as opposed to the 5.7-liter HEMI in the R/T. The 6.1-liter has a larger bore and lengthened stroke as well as revised coolant channels, a forged crankshaft, lighter pistons and stronger connecting rods. The SRT8 mill nets 425hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (at the crankshaft).
A preestablished baseline for this car was 365hp and 367 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels. When the Horsepower TV team gets finished, this red Challenger is boasting a performance gain of approximately 100hp and 100 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels. Now, that is an attention-getter!
Spoiler alert: There’s a bonus piston tutorial at the end of the video.
