All-Motor Annihilation – 2024 Camaro SS vs. 2024 Mustang GT

This clip documents a standing drag racing contest between a pair of bone stock modern muscle cars. Both cars are naturally aspirated. That means they rev fast and sound great. It also means there is room for improvement in the form of a power adder. To complicate matters, there will be a supercharged Ford F-150 FP700 added to the mix. Buckle-up.

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 1LE is equipped with a direct injected 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine capable of producing 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. In factory trim, the 2019 version of the Camaro SS could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 12.2-seconds @ 118 mph.

In the opposite lane, the 2024 Ford Mustang GT Premium (+Performance Package) boasts an all-aluminum 5.0-liter V8 that can muster 486hp and 418 lb.-ft. of torque. Car and Driver Magazine says that the Mustang can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1-seconds and eclipse the quarter-mile in 12.5-seconds @ 114 mph. Sounds like a real close race.

Not so fast. The 2024 Ford F-150 FP700 is the latest performance model of America’s most popular truck. Under the hood is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 claiming 700hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. The blower is a 3.0-liter twin screw, and the body is a regular cab, 2-wheel drive with a short bed. This Cowboy Cadillac can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4.1-seconds and blast through the 1320 in 12.4-seconds @ 105 mph.

Time to line ‘em up and see what shakes loose.
