This drag race is about as all-American as apple pie, baseball and lemonade. Thing is, it takes place across the pond in the United Kingdom. That’s alright, these Brits are red-blooded driving enthusiasts that know how to get every last drop out of a sports car. Buckle-up.

We will begin with the C8 Corvette Z06. As the latest iteration of the iconic Corvette segment, the C8 features many innovative options. First and foremost is the mid-mounted naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine. Mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the N/A V8 can churn out 670hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The stock rear-wheel drive C8 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 10.5-seconds @ 131 mph. Top speed is a computer controlled 189 mph.

The rear-wheel drive Ford GT is no less impressive with its twin turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of pumping out 650hp and 550 lb.-ft. of torque. Equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0-seconds and blast through the quarter-mile in 10.8-seconds @ 134 mph. Top speed is listed as “more than 200 mph.”
