McLaren 720S vs. Camaro ZL1 – Street Hits

October 6th, 2023

Round man Frank is at it again. Tonight, he ran across the unicorn of street racing – a McLaren 720S. The tussle is between the exotic McLaren and a lowly Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The action is jumping off on the streets (of Mexico). Take a look at the machines.

Like a unicorn, the McLaren 720S is a mythical creature. Equipped with a twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, the mid-engine, rear-wheel drive 720S can produce 710hp and 568 lb.-ft. of torque. In stock trim, the McLaren can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 10.3-seconds @ 143 mph. Computer controlled top speed is 212 mph. The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with manual shifting. Carbon ceramic brakes (with cross drilled and vented rotors) adorn all-four corners and the tires are Pirelli P Zero. Aftermarket mods include exhaust and an E85 tune. Make no mistake, this is a full-on race car.

Looking a bit bland in the light of the McLaren, the Camaro ZLI is not to be overlooked. It is sporting a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 motor that can churn out 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The front engine, rear-wheel drive ZL1 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4-seconds and eclipse the quarter-mile in 11.5-seconds @ 124 mph. Top speed is 190 mph. This car is modified with a full accoutrement of bolt-ons, weight reduction and an E50 tune.

Let’s get these thoroughbreds on the track and let them run!
