Up for debate this evening is whether a bone stock 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 can run with a modified 2016 BMW M3 sedan. This issue will be decided on the streets of Mexico under a glorious moonlit sky.

The cars? In the right lane is the rear-wheel drive BMW M3 sedan. Under the hood is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The BMW mill can generate 425hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque in factory trim. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3-seconds, and it weighs 3,540-pounds. This car has been upgraded with a catless downpipe setup, a top-mounted intercooler and an OTS E30 tune from MSD. The Beemer should be pretty quick.

Creeping up in the other lane is the rear-wheel drive C6 (2005-2013) Corvette ZR1. This performance coupe is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of churning out 640hp at the crank. It has a manual transmission and tips the scale at 3,373-pounds. The stock C6 ZR1 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.5-seconds @ 126.9 mph. Even bone stock, the ‘Vette should be up to the task.

With the cameraman onboard the ZR1, the cars roll onto the interstate. The time for talking has passed.
