How could you get more “This vs That” than this matchup between a heavyweight SUV and a tiny 1993 Mazda RX-7 Roadster? Similarities begin and end with their all-wheel drive propulsion systems. Nevertheless, they are about to line up and compete in a series of 1,000-foot standing drag races. Prepare for neck-snapping action from sunny California.

The RX-7 featured in this video is a decades-long labor of love for Rob Dahm, a man with a penchant for fast cars. Obviously, it has a custom widebody kit. It looks amazing. Underneath is a mostly custom chassis and suspension with components from everywhere – factory and aftermarket. In case you were wondering, the front differential (independent suspension) is from a late model BMW. Very posh.

Under the hood is a 4-rotor Mazda mill with a 94-millimeter turbo kit. Maximum output is estimated to be 1,300hp and the car weighs-in at 3,500-pounds. The transmission is a sequentially shifted 6-speed manual. This thing looks fast.

The Jeep Trackhawk is basically stock with a minor engine performance upgrade. All-wheel drive from the factory, the Trackhawk boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine that can churn out 707hp in stock condition. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic, and the big Jeep tips the scale at 5,400-pounds. Heavy girl! The Trackhawk that you see in this video has been modified to burn E85 fuel. Sounds great.
