650HP C6 Corvette Road Racer

Tonight, we follow along with Shawn from Autotopia LA as he makes a visit to the Marconi Automotive Museum – and takes a test drive. The featured car is a C6 Chevrolet Corvette inspired by the Bondurant Racing School car. With absolutely no desire to cut up the Bondurant car, John Marconi set about building an upgraded version as a family racer. What you are about to see is the result of this endeavor.

Under the hood is a big 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine. The LS7 utilizes 90-degree cylinder angles, a balanced forged steel crankshaft and forged steel main bearing caps to provide a strong foundation for power and durability. The high-flow cylinder heads are designed using racing technology. Titanium connecting rods and a dry sump lubrication system give the LS7 an added degree of desirability. This LS7 has been professionally built and is capable of producing 656hp at the crankshaft (approximately 575whp). That exhaust note is produced through stock Corvette exhaust minus the catalytic converters. The LS7 is mated to a Tremec 6-speed T-56 manual transmission with a short-throw shifter.

Of course, no expense was spared on the exterior. Aerodynamic and handling features are optimized.

This Corvette rides on an aluminum subframe. This yields an advantage of about 300-pounds.

Get ready for one heckuva test ride!
