Coming at you from the Texas Motorplex, the Hoonigan crew delivers with another impressive “This vs That” encounter. I can almost taste the ethanol and smell the sweet stench of burnt rubber as these two ground-pounding No Prep machines prepare for battle. Shall we have a look under the hood?

We start with the late model Ford F-150 pickup. Yep, it’s a four-wheel drive/all-wheel drive and it has sticky slicks on all four corners. Lift the bonnet and we find a sleeved 5.0-liter Coyote motor with a pair of Precision 7475 turbochargers. This Ford is running a factory controller. The transmission is an air-shifted TH400 (GM) automatic, and the differentials are stock with narrowed housings. Check out those carbon fiber doors. They yield a weight reduction of nearly 100-pounds over factory doors.

The F-150 could almost pass for a stock truck. The old school Camaro – not so much. The Kraken is a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro running a 5.3-liter LS engine fed with twin turbochargers and nitrous. The engine is “stock” with a forged rotating assembly and custom cylinder heads. The transmission is a 2-speed Powerglide. As you can see, everything about the Kraken is race ready. Disadvantages include rear-wheel drive.
