Bus wreck
A bus tries to cross the Krossá river in Thorsmörk (Iceland) but it gets stuck in deep waters.

"Come on, let's take a picture over here..."
"Of course we'll manage to get out of here..." The result was that every turn of the wheels got us closer to tipping over. At measured 27° (about 50%) we stopped trying. ;)
Because we were on our way to a gas station, the engine died after 10 minutes idling at this angle.
While waiting for the tractor (which finally never arrived) a very nice Czech arrived with his VW T5 4motion. The first trials weren't very convincing but after many tugs he finally pulled us back to the street.
Our conclusion: Also in civilized regions there is a need for reserve cans, sand boards and other recovery tools.
By the way: At the time of recovery the sun was somewhere else and after all -15°C become quite chilly over time!
"Komm, hier machen wir schnell ein Foto...."
"Klar kommen wir hier wieder weg..." Ergebnis: Jede Radumdrehung brachte uns weiter in Schräglage, bei gemessenen 27° (ca. 50%) sagte das Popometer dann "Stop". Da wir gerade auf dem Weg zur Tankstelle waren, ging nach zehn Minuten Stehen auch der Motor aus...
Warten auf den Traktor... der kam nicht, stattdessen ein sehr netter Tscheche mit T5 4motion. Die ersten Anläufe waren nicht überzeugend, aber nach diversen Rucken hat er uns wieder auf die Straße gezogen. Fazit: Auch in zivilisierten Gegenden täten sich Reserveknister, Sandbleche und diverser anderer Kleinkram ganz gut im Auto machen. Die Sonne war zum Zeitpunkt der Bergung übrigens weg und -15°C sind dann auch irgendwann kalt...
