Here's a video of the worn Mercedes 300TD starting on a pretty cold day. It used to be a taxi, and has over 1,2 million km on it.
Death of a Mercedes
Once upon a time there was a couple with an old Mercedes--Big M. They drove Big M until she would go no more then parked her in hopes of one day restoring her. After years of searching, essential parts were unavailable and no one wanted to buy the old girl. Then the city sent a letter to the couple saying the car had to be removed from their driveway. With no place to store her, the couple decided to get what money they could for her and recycle her into materials that could be used to make other products. What a novel idea compared to letting her rot in one of the world's millions of forgotten junkyards. Big M's final wild ride was fitting those she gave us. And to all you losers who have sent me death threats and vulgarities over a video--get a life.

Mercedes Benz W124 versus Thomas BUS
This bus pulled out from the stop sign RIGHT into my path. He was either distracted or never looked. Even though I had the right of way and he was already stopped at the end of his road (Aiken St.) he pulled out RIGHT in front of me and turned left, which made it impossible for me to avoid colliding with him. The Mercedes' over-built and amazingly strong A-pillar did a miraculous job of protecting me. As the Paramedics, Police & Fire Fighters confirmed this sort of thing almost always ends in a fatality by decapitation or such.
Naturally, we will be replacing the Mercedes with another E or S class.
