Once inside, it's the only car you could ever imagine driving.
It's the best of all worlds with a comfortable ride, quality construction, amenities, and drives like a sport coupe. Its no wonder this car has become the symbol for success and the car of choice for doctors, lawyers, and professionals alike.

2011 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG
The top-of-the-range S-Class V8 model, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, is to benefit from a completely newly developed powertrain. The AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with a peak output of up to 420 kW (571 hp) and a torque of up to 900 Nm, in combination with the unique AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, contributes towards a considerable reduction in consumption and emissions, while at the same time increasing maximum power and torque. With a fuel consumption of 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined), the new high-performance Saloon not only undercuts its direct competitors - it is also more than 25 percent more economical in terms of its fuel consumption than the previous model with naturally aspirated V8 engine.
The new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG marks the start of a new chapter in the "AMG Performance 2015" drive strategy: Mercedes-AMG is continuing this impressive story and is meeting its promise to continuously reduce both the fuel consumption and emissions of new models with the new engine/transmission combination - while reaching new heights with the central AMG brand value of "performance".

This car really doesn't make sense. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is meant to be about luxury, refinement, isolation and relaxation.
So why has this S63 AMG got a high-revving, 6.2-litre V8 engine with a supercar-baiting 525bhp under the bonnet? Most S-Class Mercedes' cosset you into a dreamy sleep if you relax in the back. This one will smoke its tyres like an old-school hotrod and demolish 100 mph from a standing start in barely 10 seconds. It makes no sense at all, does it?
Actually - in so many ways - it does.
For a start, take AMG's point of view. It's the performance subsidiary of Mercedes and, truth is, can barely make enough cars. Every time Mercedes launches a new model, there are punters banging on AMG's door asking for super-fast, super-exclusive version. And when this potential customer seems more than happy to sign a cheque for more than £100,000 it would be rude to say "no".
This is both a good and bad thing. It's bad because AMG is no longer as exclusive as it once was, or in fact would still like to be. Last year it sold 20,000 cars worldwide, which wouldn't be shabby if it were a luxury car manufacturer in its own right. For a mere performance division, it's phenomenal.
But it's a good thing because, if several thousand rather than a few hundred people want one of your £100,000 cars, there's a lot more cash to go spend on development.
Because if nothing else, the new S63 AMG feels terrifically well developed. If you're looking for quaint, hand-finished charm in your luxury supersaloon, look elsewhere. An S63 exudes quality and perfection right from the off with imposing styling and some fabulous details. The body's shut-lines are gnat's-chuff tight, the doors close (automatically, if you don't pull them quite hard enough) with a beautiful thunk, the windows are double-glazed and the cabin is put together with impeccable accuracy. There's no mismatched wood, dodgy glovebox fit or switches that don't quite work properly in here. AMG says that its customers have very exacting standards and, if our test car was anything to go by, the S63 will meet them.

Designed to become one of the most luxurious and advanced vehicles ever constructed, the 2014 S-Class has an evolutionary design that incorporates a sportier front fascia, a larger grille and a gentle slanting rear end. The sleek styling enables the model to have drag coefficient of 0.24 which is pretty impressive considering the pint-sized CLA has a drag coefficient of 0.23.

2011 B.M.W. 740Li Sedan...For Real!

Once you sit in the drivers seat of the 2011 B.M.W. 740Li Sudan you understand rather quickly that this is not your standard automobile.
The 2011 B.M.W. 740Li Sudan is pretty darn fast. In fact, according to BMW, the twin-turbo six-cylinder models give up only 0.7 second in the sprint to 60 mph compared with twin-turbo V-8 750s of similar wheelbases (5.8 seconds for the 740i versus 5.1 seconds for the 750i). During a test-drive of a 740Li at the Car Concerns Radio Proving Grounds, we were particularly impressed by the fact that the six-cylinder car, which is about 220 pounds lighter, exhibits less turbo lag off the line and therefore smoother, more linear acceleration---V-8 variants, which have an 85-hp advantage, hesitate off the line before exploding forward. Like the V-8 version, the 740Li uses a six-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth upshifts and very responsive downshifts as well as a Sport mode.
This B.M.W.740Li retains the 7-series' highly impressive sporty-big-car handling characteristics and also comes with exclusive Driving Dynamics Control, a rocker switch next to the shifter that allows the driver to choose among four different driving programs---Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus---that tweak the calibrations of the dampers, transmission, gas pedal, steering, and traction control.
