this car was a junk yard car. the engine was about the only thing that worked on it and the car was going to be crushed, no one wanted to buy the engine or anything else so we blew it up just days from being a sardine can.

305 Chevy engine lasted 2 minutes 14 seconds at full throttle with a combination of 1 1/2 gal of regular, 1 1/2 gal 120 octane race gas & a 1/2 gal of Nitro Methane. It should have been darker, flames went 2 feet past the headers. We'll be doing it again next month. The winner at $1.00 a guess got $119.00

There are loads of videos where people run an engine at full rev with no oil in it, and the engine seizes.
Running it a medium rev, I wanted to see how long it would run with no lubrication, and I was surprised.
However if the car was driving and the engine was under load, it would be dead in minutes!

How long can a Volkswagen engine run at top RPM with no oil? This is annual event at the Maritime Volkswagen Owners Club (MVOC) show. This video is from the 1998 show. UPDATE: From comments., I see that some folks don't understand the reason we did this. This is a common event at many Volkswagen shows. The purpose is to show how duriable an air-cooled VW engine is. Try doing the same with another type of engine!? Plus, the VW engine can be repaired quickly and cheaply with hours.
