Buick 350 on test bench
This is a fresh rebuilt Buick 350 runnin' on my test bench..
Got 9.8:1 compression (Speed Pro hypers & moly), rebuilt heads with good portjob, 470/470 lift cam, Poston aluminium Intake, 600cfm Holley, 1968 1.6:1 aluminium rocker arms, modified oil passages, timing cover and filter housing, oil balance tube on rear side, crooved cam bores in block, double roller.....and so on.
Let it run for more than 30min. with 2500rpm's to get it REALLY HOT (more than 100°C!), and to have a look on the oil pressure when running such high temps...with 15-40 standard mineral based oil..OF COURSE!
Huhh...32psi..at roughly 650 rpm's..did you expect this?
I DID!! Get your hands dirty and rebuild your good old Buick engine!!
HE IS WORTH IT!!
NOTHING pulls lika Buick engine!!
1972 Buick Skylark 455,
My 72 Skylark 350 sport coupe, I've had it about 10 or 11 years and I bought it from the original owners family after he had passed away. It used to be a grandfathers car now it's just an old guys toy. Soon after I bought it I installed a warmed up 350 and it ran real good. One day I wanted more so I built a .030 over 455 and that's when the trouble started. The original owners name Was Charley Daniels(no not that one)May he rest in peace because lord knows, When ever I start this thing up nobody rests in peace. Mwuh hah ha hah ha ha
4 door 71 Buick Skylark Build
My 1971 Buick Skylark " A work in progress". Buick 350 4 barrel, comp cams camshaft, lifters, roller timing chain, high volume oil pump, Th350 trans. 97,000 original miles. Power Seats, Power windows, A/C. Super 44 mufflers.
69 Buick GS 350-4 barrel
This is my bone stock, save for the demon carb( it is an original four barrel motor though) 69 GS 350, factory manifolds without mufflers because i'm installing headers very soon, with purple hornie glasspacks:D can you say irritated neighbours? I'm going to get the T/A manifold for it along with some 3.91 gears (it has a chevy 12 bolt posi) and maybe a cam, the aforementioned stuff with the longtube headers should be a pretty peppy car, these old buick 350's make a lot of torque, the way it is now it will easily brake both tires loose and melt them during a brakestand, with the open manifolds it will even lay a couple of 20 foot long strips just stompin on the gas, not bad for a stock converter, stock 3.30 gears and 3600 pound car, this paticular motor was rated at 285 hp (net) and 360 ft-lbs of torque from the factory, and I believe they had 10:1 compression. The buick 350 actually has a longer stroke than a chevy 396 big block it's 3.85", this makes for Alot of down low go, and a good starting point.
