THE PERFECT CONNECTIONS •Bentley confirms EXECUTIVE INTERIOR for Mulsanne flagship •Theatre and iPad Specifications multimedia packages introduced •Entertainment and advanced business connectivity meets handcrafted luxury (Crewe, 1 March 2012) Bentley's advanced multimedia Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept, first showcased at the 2011 Frankfurt Show, is now moving from the design studio to the commissioning suite with the introduction of Theatre and iPad Specifications offering state‑of‑the‑art multimedia connectivity on the move. "The original Mulsanne multimedia concept was previewed at several special customer events across the globe and the reaction was immensely encouraging. Bentley has now created two bespoke Specifications, Theatre and iPad, and we're confident they will meet the expectations of customers needing a business-focussed environment or simply a relaxing space where films, music, television and the internet can be enjoyed," comments Alasdair Stewart, Bentley's Member of the Board for Sales and Marketing. Both the Theatre and iPad Specifications are seamlessly integrated into the Mulsanne's sumptuous and supremely comfortable cabin, which takes Bentley's craftsmen and women over 170 hours to create. When not required, features like the drop-down screen or picnic tables retract and are stowed both quickly and discretely. Theatre Specification for home entertainment and comfort on the move With the Mulsanne Theatre Specification passengers in the rear cabin can enjoy a wide range of entertainment -- choosing between DVD movies, television programmes, or music -- which is offered via a 15.6-inch centrally located HD LED screen. As an alternative, each headrest is equipped with its own 8-inch screen, enabling passengers to select their own entertainment and listening in private through high quality Bluetooth headphones. Business users can take full advantage of the powerful processing capability and connectivity of the boot-mounted Apple Mac computer which is selectable for display via the HD LED screen. Twin USB ports positioned in the centre console provide easy access to the Mac to upload films, music and data or documents for use either in the cabin or once the journey ends. Finger-tip control is provided via an iPod touch allowing navigation of the technology by means of a unique Bentley 'App' and bespoke reading lights have been designed to provide optimum illumination for viewing documents. The opportunity to unwind in style is also catered forwith an exquisitely detailed, Bentley‑designed, luxury bottle cooler with space for two full-size Champagne bottles in a canted position, allowing opened bottles to be put back in the cooler. With one touch of a button, the frosted glass door quietly slides open to reveal three hand‑blown and hand-cut lead crystal champagne flutes, displayed beautifully by the white LED accent lighting. The flutes are exclusively created for Bentley by renowned British designer, David Redman of London, and echo the racing spoke design of the Mulsanne's 21" 5-spoke Sports alloy wheel. The flutes can be placed in the bespoke-design bright chrome holders that deploy from the centre seat cushion. These also adapt to work as normal cup holders when required. The bottle cooler and fluteholders are discreetly concealed when not in use and the elegant design of the cooling system means that no boot space is compromised. iPad Specification for office level functionality and connectivity Two beautifully crafted, electrically-deployed veneered picnic tables for rear passengers provide a soft hide writing surface, colour-matched to the seats of the Mulsanne, and at the press of a button twin iPads with wireless keyboards are revealed. Both rear passengers can work on documents or files independently, email, browse the internet, make video calls or play music or games. The picnic tables are cleverly designed so that the keyboards can be easily removed and placed on the user's lap for added comfort. Bespoke finishing touches Both the Theatre and iPad Specifications of Mulsanne Executive Interior can be specified with a range of finishing touches including a Tibaldi fountain pen from its specially commissioned Collection which will be hand veneered to match the car and is discretely stowed in a dedicated dock in the centre armrest. And seen on a Bentley for the first time, a distinctive Yachting-style veneer of either Dark Wenge with a Maple Pinstripe or Maple using the Dark Wenge as the pinstripe motif. Both of these Yachting veneers are available in a Satin or Gloss Lacquer finish.

Bentley's new flagship model brings back the Mulsanne nameplate last used in 1992, and replaces the Bentley Arnage. The Mulsanne was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, on 16 August 2009. Coupe and convertible variants are expected to follow at some point as replacements for the Arnage-based Brooklands and Azure respectively.[5] Like the Arnage, the Mulsanne retains the iconic 6.75 L (6750 cc/411 in³) OHV V8 engine, albeit heavily modified to meet Euro V emissions regulations. To achieve improved fuel consumption, the re-designed engine is lighter and features cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing.[6] Unlike the less expensive Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Bentley Continental GT, the Mulsanne shares very few components with other marques in the Volkswagen Group.[7] The Mulsanne is also notable as it is the first flagship car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in nearly 80 years; the last being W.O. Bentley's iconic 8 litre model in 1930.[8] Afterward, most Bentleys had shared platforms with Rolls-Royce cars.[7] The Mulsanne aims to recreate as much of Bentley's heritage as possible. For instance, the stainless steel knobs on the dashboard that control the vent plungers are electronic micro switches that send signals to the digital servos that handle the job. However, Bentley engineers painstakingly replicated the feedback of a precisely polished steel rod sliding over smooth felt to pull a soft leather damper closed.[9] Other touches of Bentley history include the very large wheels with small sidewalled tyres, which give an echo of the ride comfort qualities of 1920's Bentleys. In the United Kingdom, the 2011 Mulsanne costs from £225,900 and in the US from $285,000. The first vehicle produced, chassis number one, was sold in August 2009 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance auction for $550,000.[10] Each car takes twelve weeks to produce,[11] and customers will have a choice of 114 paint colours, 21 carpet colours, nine wood veneers and 24 interior leather hides, and be able to specify a custom colour scheme. Additionally, the car has more advanced technology compared with the Arnage, and can be specified to feature a Naim 2200w audio system complete with MP3 compatibility, with Bluetooth and an advanced MMI capability. At the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Executive Interior Concept (EIC) contains many technologies commonly found in offices to assist executives while on the road. The rear passenger area features three LCD screens powered by an Apple Mac mini located in the trunk, with additional iPads in fold out trays connected through Bluetooth keyboards. While the first Continental GTC was elegant and understated, the sharper radii and assertive stance of the new model delivers a more contemporary and muscular presence. Twenty-inch wheels are now standard with three styles of 21-inch wheel, a first for GTC, available as an option, reinforcing the distinctive, sporting stance of the new Bentley. The GTC's renowned coupe-like refinement is also enhanced. The tailored, multi-layered fabric hood is complemented by acoustic glass and under-body panels, for optimum noise isolation. Superb everyday practicality for a luxury convertible was a hallmark of the original GTC and much valued by its customers. The cabin of the new GTC is now even more practical, with additional rear legroom, new storage solutions and innovative features such as touch-screen infotainment, automatic seat-belt presenters and a Bentley-designed Neck Warmer for comfortable roof-down motoring whatever the temperature. A wider track, front and rear, sharper steering and retuned suspension provide a more exhilarating and class-leading drive. Bentley's advanced all-wheel drive system features a new 40:60 rear torque bias (compared with 50:50 of the original GTC) minimising understeer during hard cornering and allowing the spirited driver to manage the car's line and balance via precise throttle control. This compelling dynamic package is combined with a more powerful 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine as well as a new QuickShift transmission enabling faster gear changes than ever before. Power output is raised from 560PS to 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and the famed Bentley 'wave of torque' has been increased by a further 50Nm to 700Nm (516lb ft). "The GTC has always been the most emotional model in the Continental range and a showcase for Bentley design. With its tailored soft top, the GTC is a pure British convertible true to those classic Bentleys of the past. However, the technology, performance and overall design excellence invested in this model means that we are now writing a new chapter for the Bentley convertible driver."
