12A Rotary Idle
This is a completely stock Mazda 12A twin-rotor engine at idle. The block is 100% original unrestored with only 63,000 miles on it. The car was built May 1978. I would like to see how long she goes before I need to overhaul it. Not too many piston engines can sit for nearly thirty years with fifteen of them rusting in the forest and then run THIS SMOOTH. A true testiment to Kenichi Yamamoto's vision of the rotary. The turbine-like smoothness is easily seen here. You could rest a nickel on edge right on the block without it falling! (well, almost)

Peripheral port 13B idle
Homebrew 13B at idle; fabricated ports, header, intake manifold, etc, breathing through a Weber 48 IDA.
Trying some tricks with porting and header design and it only fired up for the first time about an hour ago, so I have no idea of power output, and very little desire to make unrealistic guesses.

12A Rotary Bridge Port KE30 Corolla First Startup
This is the engine from my Dyno Vid. Its finally installed in the car. The engine was run in and tuned on the engine Dyno.
It was a bit smokey until I drained the fuel and filled up with fresh fuel. I used to over premix the fuel so i suspect that the oil had sunk to the bottom of the tank as the car sat engineless for over 3 months.
All seems fine. No oil or coolant leaks. Temps are fine with the new PWR Radiator and SPAL 16" fan. The PWR oil cooler is also working a treat.
Just have to sort out if my oil pressure gauge is reading low, or if the multi-outlet block i have it mounted on is the cause of the pressure being 50psi on startup and not 100psi like in the Dyno clip.
Just have to spend a few mins getting the idle sorted as you can probably hear.
This was the first startup in the car, so i was holding the camera whilst checking the car over for leaks and temps etc.....so please excuse the jerkiness.
13b Monster Miata Weber 48 IDA Dyno Dynoed the Miata on a DynoJet made 160 rwhp and 120rwtq. Peak horsepower was made at 7,800 RPM. The motor is a 13b with a street port and weber 48 IDA downdraft carb. 89 octane with premix, stock ignition system. Built by Lucky 7 Racing.
