472 RWHP Turbo Miata, Ultimate Street Car Challenge 2004
Andrew Campbell's 472 RWHP turbo Miata that was featured in Sport Compact Car's 2004 USCC.
The road course part was @ SOW and the car was driven by me.
As you can tell, it was quite a handful - huge, laggy turbo, stock brakes, tires that were far too small to put the power down and a stock radiator that prevented us from taking a warm-up lap (or the car would overheat...).
Still, we came 5th after the dust settled, ahead of HPA's twin turbo R32 Golf, the mighty Nissan Skyline R32GTR as well as the overall winner of the event with the supercharged V6 MR2.
Not too bad.
1999 Mazda Miata, supercharged, 200RWHP
Okay hang out until the end of the video and listen to that glorious, unmistakable, Supercharger whine! For some reason that I don't understand, you hardly ever see a Supercharger on a 4-cylinder engine. Oh sure you see turbocharging on them all the time but a Supercharger? Why is this--does anyone know? Anyways kudos to this driver and his driver's car; what a sick-ass Miata: double the stock horsepower! (You can also see the camera man's pitiful little Miata in this video too :) Enjoy.
