GM passlock problem
2001 Impala Base 114,xxx miles.
Runs & drives perfect, except....
GM replaced BCM computer 9-09. Accomplished nothing.
I replaced ignition switch w/NAPA part 10-09-09. Worked great for 2 weeks.
Then started having the same ole trouble.
I replaced ignition key tumbler switch w/passlock sensor w/NAPA part 10-25-09.
No problems until this week 1-13-10.
Still doing the same exact thing it was doing before I replaced anything.
Hasn't started any day this week. 10 minute wait, etc. will not work. Starts when it wants to.
HELP!!!
Anyone have any ideas on how to properly repair this chronic problem?
----NOTE----the problem is fixed.
Cleaned the contacts on the BCM computer fuse.
That's all it took. If your car is exhibiting symptoms exactly like mine did, I'd try that 1st.

Ford Focus Light Bar Install
This install was done back in June of '08... The car was totaled in July of 1010 by a driver speeding around a blind corner and hitting the front-left corner. All of the emergency equipment was recovered from the vehicle before it went to the junk yard, and is now cluttering up my basement.
This install of a Star Warning Systems Interceptor 8421H Lightbar, Whelen Cencom and a pair of Sho-Me Hideaway Strobes into my 2007 Ford Focus took approximately 4 hours, two bloody knuckles and 3 leg cramps.

Coolest security car
Coolest security vehicle I have ever seen. 365hp supercharged V6 Dodge Interceptor with police package. Filmed in mall parking lot with permission of driver.
Whats wrong with my 02 Impala?
Could anyone tell me what might be wrong with my car?
I have had the alternator checked twice
The battery is only a week old
This video was right after an all night 2 amp trickle charge
ALL conncetions to the battery are clean and have bare shiny metal showing
All grounds for the battery are secure and the wires are not crackly
The car occasionally does start, but flashes the red battery light before leaving it on and then dying. If the car dies when its not running, that leads me to believe its not the starter, and the battery is new. The car does not even start half of the time, despite a fully charged battery, which tells me its not the alternator, plus the fact that I have had it checked twice in the last two weeks. Anyone got any ideas?
GM Starting Electrical problems on 99 01 02 03 04 05 Impala Grand Am Malibu by ENORMIS of Erie, Pa
This is our tech tip rant... GM HAS a problem with these cars, WE are tired of being blamed for it. WE KNOW HOW to solve it.
SIMPLE RESISTORS and RELAYS DOES NOT FIX PASSLOCK II vehicles.***Please do NOT waste your time submitting a response trying to tell us how to permanently fix the problem. We will NOT post, respond, or even read your comment.*** We know how to fix the problem and this is how we make our living. (Because of all the MORONS out there THINKING they know how to fix this problem we have turned COMMENTS OFF....)
We are seeing many 99-08 Gm Electrical issues. We are solving and diagnosing these issues. Certain mechanics are blaming aftermarket remote starts etc. if they happen to be in the vehicle. WAKE UP !! GM HAS A PROBLEM. THESE PROBLEMS are HAPPENING WHETHER AFTERMARKET Electronics are installed in the vehicle OR NOT! We know to diagnose and we will fix these cars.

I own a 2003 Chevy Impala. I purchased this car in Sept. of 2005. 3 days after we purchased the car, the Security light came on. 5 days later, my car wouldn't start. My radio would come on, but my car wouldn't even roll over. It took me 15 to 20 mins. to mess with the keys to try to start it. My husband is a certified Mechanic and he couldn't find out what was wrong with this. We even took it to a dealership and they said that it could be 3 of the things. To this day, my car still won't start when the security light comes on. I have NEVER owned a vehicle that had problems with starting
Courtney of Camby IN (07/12/08)
On December 1,2007 the security light on my 2003 Chevy Impala began coming on intermittently. When I took it in to have it checked it wouldn't come on. Shortly after the security light started coming on (the security light never stayed on steady)my power door locks quit working. My husband replaced the fuse and they would work for a few days and then quit again. On May 9,2008 I drove my Impala about 25 miles from my home, turned off the engine and went into a store for about 15 minutes. When I came out my car started but my radio read LOCKED. It then went off and never happened again. Later that day I was in and out of stores and everytime it started and was running just fine until I went somewhere and left it parked for about 45 minutes. When I came out it wouldn't start. I turned the key and my radio would come on and my CHECK ENGINE light would come on. I tried about 3 times and then it started. I went to the grocery store and when I came out it once again wouldn't start. My radio would come on and my CHECK ENGINE light would come on. After a few more tries it started. I took my groceries home, never turning off my engine and then drove my car straight to BIG JOHN'S AUTO REPAIR. On May 17, 2008 I drove about 10 miles from my house and turned off my engine for about an hour and when I tried to leave, big surprise, my car wouldn't start. Afraid of being stranded somewhere I was very leary of driving it.

Many GM vehicles are experiencing PassLock II system failures. I own a 2003 Chevy Impala and have had a lot of trouble with the car not starting and the security light coming on. These events seem random for the past 2 years. I did not take this car to a GM certified dealer because I don't feel like being taken to the cleaners. What I did is very unusual, but I tore the dash apart and looked at their PassLock II system myself. I am very experienced in electronics, engine management controls and software. Eventually, I removed the ignition switch and really did a detailed investigation. What I found is that GM completely under-designed the system.
