Honda Civic Power Steering Pump Problem [Help]

The timing belt in my Honda Civc 2005 Sedan seems to be making a squealing sound as if something is rusted or not lubed. It's done almost 50,000km and had this problem since 4 months ago when it had only done about 40,000km+. It happens every time after the car hasn't been for a few hours. The noise seemed to be much louder and defined in colder weather. The squealing typically lasts for the first 5-10 minutes from the start up. It doesn't seem to effect the car's performance. Just really annoying and worried if it will cause harm to the car in the future. Please let me know in the comments below what you recon. Thanks!

Honda Power Steering Pump pt 2.
Second part of a pump rebuild. These things are simple, 2 o-rings, a cover o-ring, 1 seal and a bearing that goes out. Bearing is an NTN 6303LU 17x40x12. You can buy a kit that has all the o-rings but will still need the bearing. The bearing is what went out on mine at 170k miles, pump looked clean inside otherwise, which is from regularly changing fluids. For the rebuild you'll need: 91347-P2A-003 O-RING (15.2X2.4) 91348-P2A-003 O-RING (51.0X2.4) 91048-P2A-003 BEARING, RADIAL BALL (17X40X12) 91249-P2A-003 SEAL, POWER STEERING PUMP 91349-P2A-003 SEAL, POWER STEERING PUMP COVER Inlet/outlet.. 91345-RDA-A01 O-RING (13.0X1.9) 91347-PAA-A01 O-RING (16.7X1.8)

Power Steering Bleed.mpg
This is my version of a GM TSB procedure for bleeding the air out of a power steering system that whines even though it's full of fluid. GM says to use a vacuum pump - I use the engine vacuum - it's less work... (heh heh). The special tool can be fabricated using an oil filler cap (available at Advance Auto Parts) for an 60s model 350 Chevy engine.

Power steering pump on my 98 Odyssey was making noise. Reman pumps are $130ish, it can be rebuilt for $20-$30 and it's surprisingly simple.

Power steering Pump pulley noise 2001 E46
I have been on the hunt for a low rumble noise for a few days now. This is what I came across while trying to isolate the noise.

2003 Civic SI EP3 Water Pump Going Out, Failing
Trying to diagnose this sound: Near stock engine (ESMM Inserts) making some noise near the valve cover/block on the passenger side. The noise is closer to the pulleys, but seems internal. Also read how there are cam galling issues on these engines (K20A3) - haven't taken off the valve cover yet to check though. 109K miles, up to service on everything like oil, belt change, transmission fluid, except for the valve clearance checks - could that be it? Also, I have been using 5W-20, and read bad things about it being too thin, especially during the Texas summer heat, so now I'm switching to 5W-30. 8/20/11 Update: It turned out to be the water pump. The internal bearings were bad, to be exact. I replaced it with the OEM one and installed it with minor issues. Some tips: - The manual says to remove the crank pulley to access the water pump. Even with a 1/2" breaker bar and a 5' cheater pipe, I couldn't get it loose. Also tried the starter trick, nothing. I had taken it to an Acura dealership where a friend just loosened it with an air impact gun (1200 lbs. of torque!), and re-tightened it to a modest 75 lbs. so I could get it off at home. - Remove the Idler and the auto-tensioner pulleys, it'll make accessing the top three water pump bracket bolts much easier. - Two of the bottom water pump bracket bolts (bottom, and bottom-left) were easy, but the bottom-right was a pain. Make sure you have a small enough 1/4" ratchet and small hands that can navigate such a tight space. - It's a good time to change out the coolant (never done mine until now at 109K), and I used the OEM 50/50 Type 2 Coolant. It was this nice, unexpected blue. The old one was pretty clean and green, so I suppose Honda did a good job with engineering their coolant.

Creaking Honda Civic Steering Column 1/3
January 2010 UPDATE: About 40 people have all written to me and told me that their civic makes the same noise too! My car still makes this noise from time to time. It will do it for a few months and then mysteriously stop. Then a few months later it will come back. I don't know what is causing it, and it doesn't seem to be affecting performance at all. Still it is a mystery! Perhaps it is something inherently wrong with the 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid? My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid has had a very bad creak emmit from the steering column while moving the wheel while accelerating from 0-25 mph. It only occurs while accelerating with the gas pedal. Decelerating and moving the wheel produces no noise / creak regardless of speed, and wheel movement at higher speeds does not create a sound. I had a front impact in Dec 2004 so it could be a result of the re-build (it was a moderate hood / radiator damage) but the noise has only gotten bad in the past 6 months. Does it have something to do with the power steering fluid? power steering belt? Example video 1 of 3
