2011 Nissan LEAF Electric Car Test Drive & Car Review by RoadflyTV
We finally get some time in the all new, 100% electric car the Nissan LEAF. The first widely available electric car is capable of driving about 110 miles on a charge. The electric motor produces 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The LEAF can be plugged into any conventional home electric outlet to be recharged.
The LEAF handles a lot better than expected and it's acceleration was pretty impressive too. It actually felt quick off the line due to the availability of all 207 lb-ft of torque the second your foot hits the accelerator. Rumors are that the 0-60 MPH time is about 10 or 11 seconds. We didn't have time to do an official test unfortunately but it felt a lot quicker than that to us.
As far as gas mileage goes. The EPA has rated the LEAF at 99 MPG. Wow!!!

Roadfly.com - Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid the Prius PHV Review & Road Test
Roadfly road tests the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid
Prius PHV doesn't require a special charging station. With a standard household 110V electrical outlet, you can recharge it in approximately three hours. With a dedicated 220V outlet, recharging takes just one and a half hours. It's that easy. And as more cities and businesses build public and private charging stations, it will be even easier.
The Prius PHV features electric-only driving for a maximum of approximately 13 miles, plus an anticipated 50 MPG-rated hybrid driving that totally eliminates range anxiety.
This new Toyota technology features lithium-ion batteries which offer a great opportunity for renewable energy.

New Electric Cars Are Better
Just showing off some of the cool new electric cars and putting to rest some of the myths out there. When people think of electric cars, typically they think of older ugly slower models, lead-acid batterys, and BS propaganda they've read slamming the "electric cars"(as though they all carried the exact same attributes)
The battery technology has changed(and will change even more when nanowire battery becomes common), the speeds have changed, the climate versatility has changed, the prices are changing, the car companies are changing... everything is changing for the better. I expect to see a lot more support for EV's during and after 2010.

Chevy Volt vs. Nissan LEAF
There's a lot of controversy comparing the Nissan LEAF to the Chevy Volt, but it all has to do with whether or not the Volt is truly an electric car, or whether it's a hybrid. But let's set their powertrains aside for the moment. John McElroy just got a chance to test drive both cars, back to back, and here's his impression of what the they're like.

Nissan Leaf review - CarBuyer
Full review: www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/nissan/leaf/hatchback/review
Could this be the car of the future? The Nissan Leaf is the first mainstream production car designed to be powered purely by electricity. It emits zero CO2 and can be charged at home from a standard socket. The car's exterior is shaped to cheat wind resistance, hence the elongated tail. The lithium-ion battery pack is stored in the floor of the car, which means lots of space inside.
