Complete engine and transmission overhaul of a 1994 Toyota Camry. This video shows rebuilding/re-assembly of the Engine (#2 of 3).
This car had 341,000+ Miles at the time of overhaul in October/November of 2011. I have owned the car for 17 years and it had 16K miles when I bought it. We took the car to Alaska from Arkansas in June 2011 (before the breakdown) = 10,000+ mile round trip.
This car suffered from a broken counter-driven shaft and gear in the transmission. These are probably two of the most difficult parts to get to on the entire car as the engine and transmission must be removed and then the shaft and gear are pretty much the last parts to be removed from the transmission during normal disassembly acording to the Toyota factory service manual.
3sge jdm celica top end noise... rattle ahhH!
This is my 1987 JDM import 3sge toyota celica, presumed to be Gt-R (too young for tems and 4ws, but got the electric seats & climate control, and apparently Japan never had a domestic gt-s available anyways ???)
I have a top end noise! its in the lower head.
Note the following:
- Shim clearances between the cam and valves are great
- all the valve springs are in great nick, pulled am all out and had a look.
- the engine has great power, torque and compression
- it has done 300,000kms
- it has as much oil as i can fit up to the fuel line, its got 20w50 with stp oil treatment additive
- the noise happens at idle, and under load under 4000 revs, it never does it when coasting with foot off the accelerator while in gear.
- its running on 91 octane fuel
- This motor does not have any misses at all
Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too keen on pulling off the head yet, not while the engine runs perfect. but it just sounds feral.

Zuma BWS 50 with Big Bore
Zuma/BWS 50 with a big bore kit and doppler airbox. Everything else is stock. I just finished installing the doppler airbox before this video and its running smoother with quicker throttle response and sounds much nicer.
