I'm trying to figure out what is so noisy about my H22. Compression is perfect, valves have been recently adjusted, does not burn too much synthetic oil (maybe 1 litre every 2000km). But when the engine is cold it just sounds very noisy. Are my valves just loud, do I have piston slap or rod knock?

h22 engine noise.
If you listen past the valves needing adjustment, there is a "knock". 14-16 sec is a good example, and at the very end. I am not too sure what this sound is,rod, balance shaft, something in the valve train? I am going to take a look this weekend because arguing what the sound is doesnt fix it :). After I find out what it is I will update possibly with another video. This is my first youtube video btw.

95 Ford Probe GT - Engine tapping noise
I put 5.5 fl oz into oil and ran it idle for 15 minutes then drove 10 minutes to change oil. changed oil and added some engine treatment additive... It sound same to me :( Car itself drives fine... It used to have misfire which then become much more less noticeable and now it's gone. It was also very rough at idle(sometimes stalling) which is completely gone now and this tapping/clicking developed... :(

"The Incident"
Just to clear up a few misconceptions, this is the sound of cylinder #2 bent Exhaust and intake valves. Not rod bearings, rod knock, or anything else. I paid to have the head rebuilt with all new valves, seats, springs, and retainers.
It sounds the way it does because a piece of a broken drill bit wedged itself in between my Exhaust valves and seat. It runs perfect now and I've put 13,000 miles on it since.
Honda Prelude - Engine Noise
The hissing sound is the intake suction, but I hear a few other things. The sound has been there for almost 2 years, even after the head was rebuilt.
■ I'm thinking Rod Knock?
-But wouldn't the bearings have failed a year ago?
■ Piston Slap?
-Just a guess
■ Timing Belt Tensioner failing?
-If it's this, then I'll do the H23 manual tensioner conversion
EDIT 6/2/12: Ended up converting to H23 timing belt tensioner. Other "Tractor" noise was probably the crank pulley wobbling, not the rod knock/ piston slap. Whole motor was just swapped out last month.
