A full hybrid, like Toyota's Prius, or hybrid competitors to the Buick like Lincoln's MKZ and Lexus's HS 250h, can run on battery power alone during some urban driving. Not the LaCrosse. In terms of preserving the planet, Buick's simplified hybrid system essentially works to shut off the engine when the car stops (like at a stoplight) and when the vehicle is decelerating or coasting. "This is NOT your grandmother's Buick anymore. Sleek design keys incorporated. Two drivers memory seat. Sliding armrest. Driver side compartment. Ventilated seat. Wood, chrome and metal stick shift. 18'' alloy wheels. Chrome accents throughout. Shark-finned antenna. Lots of space. Deep trunk. Plenty of space for back passengers. Fold-down seats.
Moving over to the Avalon. 17'' alloy wheels. Doesn't have all the chrome accents. Although it's not a bad looking car, it really doesn't say 'watch out Lacrosse'. You'll find that the back seats don't fold down. About the same room for passengers. Trunk space: not quite as much. When you sit on the driver's seat you'll notice there is no memory. So, you and your wife can't each have your own settings. Styling: nowhere near as sleek. No OnStar. Gages don't look bad but they don't stand out like the Lacrosse. "
