Nissan Xterra Near Rollover - Offroad Cow Mountain Ukiah
Four wheeling at S. Cow Mountain OHV BLM near Ukiah, CA.
Can you say pucker factor!
Now taking applications for a Spotter.
Who said the Xterra is top heavy?
In response to the critics, yes this was before the suspension was moded.
This was a trail I have taken many times, the terrain is kind of a packed
sand and like snow it can be difficult to see terrain features. I missed my
line and got sucked into the deep rut I was trying to cut across. The water
ripple effect @ 0:50 is where I parked and got out to access the situation.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Nissan Xterra - etrailer.com
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13183 on a 2004
Nissan Xterra. OK, we are underneath the vehicle, and the first thing you
want to do is to go ahead and remove the spare tire to get it out of the
way. Taking a look at the passengers side frame rail here, you can see we
have got one, two, three existing holes here at the bottom of the frame.
Those are going to provide our attaching points on both sides of the
vehicle. With the installation kit, you do have this long plate that it
comes with, one for each side of the vehicle. One end has a flat edge the
other end has a rounded edge. The rounded edge is the part that actually
needs to go inside the frame. The flat edge will be the one toward the
bumper. We will just lay that in there and align it over the existing
holes. And then we are just going to take our carriage bolts that are
provided in the installation kit, and we are going to them down into all
OK, we are going to repeat that procedure for the drivers side as well, and
then we will go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We are going to
fasten those carriage bolts with the hex nuts that are provided. OK, then,
on the drivers side, we are going to be using the same procedure with the
long block in the carriage bolts. But here on the drivers side you can see
we do have the Exhaust tube that is
going to kind of interfere with us putting everything into place here on
the frame rail. So to get that out of the way, we are going to go ahead and
lower it off of this rear-most hanger, which is right here.
OK, now we are going to go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We
want to make sure we go up and over the Exhaust here on the drivers side with the
trailer hitch. With the hitch up into position and the nuts tightened down,
we can go ahead and torque our bolts. We want to check with the directions
to make sure we verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual
bolt. Now that we have got all our bolts torqued down, we just want to make
sure we put the Exhaust back up on its
hanger and put our spare tire back up into place, and our installation will
be complete. And this will conclude the installation of Curt hitch part
number 13183 on a 2004 Nissan Xterra.

FJ Cruiser, Sequoia, and Hummer H3 Off-Road on Rattlesnake Trail
After school had finished this year, on my second to last day in Utah
before moving back to Colorado, I decided to go hit up Rattlesnake out at 5
Mile Pass one last time and I was able to get the new president of the UVU
Off-Road Adventure Club to come (Spencer in his Hummer H3) and then my
uncle decided to come a well (Adam in the Sequoia). We had a pretty good
time but it became obvious that having a locker makes life a ton easier. We
thought the Sequoia had one but real quick we realized on Rattlesnake that
this was not the case, so in a lot of situations, as you'll see, he had to
bump it or just gas it. And I think for the Sequoia, having that V8 on the
trail was a big help for getting it through.
