Old-school doesn't necessarily mean slow-school. Datsun 240z w/ L28, triple Mikuni 44's, AZC brakes, GC coilovers, Toyo R888's. Car is a weekend/track toy driven to and from events. Recorded on an Aiptek GVS, 720p 60fps.

1970 Datsun 240Z/L28- 7000rpm in first three gears - triple Weber 40DCOEs
Watch for the surprise at the end (!)...didn't get pulled though. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjpmkfdnNvI for the same engine with SU carbs...which is a 1983 F54 L28 w/P90 turbo head, 10:1 compression, 15lb flywheel.
The engines sound similar but the Webers have much more torque than the SUs, pull very hard in 1st and 2nd and easily to 7,000 in 3rd. I have a Centerforce 2 clutch now which make changing gears a tick slower compared to my earlier video however. The car is definitely faster through each gear with solid power to redline.
240Z vs. the Ozark Mountains
Some [conservative] horseplay in my 1971 3.1L 240Z before putting my new race motor away for the winter. This is NOT a performance driving video, just some fun on an awesome road.
This is first time I've driven the road, so I'm a little more confident after 3:00. (I found it on Google Earth then trailered my car there.)
Some highlights, since it's not exactly a concise video:
1:55 downhill stretch, crossing Beaver Lake
2:40 more aggressive driving begins
4:00 scared myself a bit
4:40 traffic encountered
5:00 engine vs. open highway

1973 Datsun 240Z, Bahrain
A little vid of my FairladyZ after installing the triple Mikuni Carbs 40phh. She is a 1973 240z with an L28, ported E88 head, Monza Headers, Shnider Cam, Custom Exhaust and MSD ignition. It's an ongoing project and more goodies on their way ;)
wild driving in a 240Z
filmed at the N.E Oklahoma Scca solo event. After a few warm up laps, the driver recorded the second fastest time of the day.
Both the engine and suspension are tweeked.
great car
Datsun 240Z at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) 10/11/2009
2 laps of VIR in a 1971 Datsun 240z. Car has 145 HP at the rear wheels currently. My second track event here... HPDE 2 is the class I am running with NASA. Tires are Kumho Victoracers. I drive to and from the track on them. Brakes are 84 300ZX rotors all the way around with Toyota 4X4 front calipers and 240SX rear calipers. Front pads are Hawk Blues. Rear are KVR street compound
Mazda3 w/ straight-cut gears + turbo kit @ Thunderhill Raceway
HPDE at Thunderhill in my Mazda3 -- NCRC 9/3/2010 -- my first time at this track, so lines could use some improvement. Just a quick clip of a few interesting laps from third session, following around a friend in his Mazdaspeed3, also passed an rx7 FD and a Mazdaspeed Miata. Sorry for the shaky video, loose headrest mount, gets bad above 100mph. top speed in straights was ~118.
Car has...
- Tri-Point engineering GT2871R turbo kit
- Straight-cut PAR Engineering close-ratio gearset
- 235/40/17 R888 tires (nearly dead)
- Mazdaspeed DA coilovers
- K-Mac front camber plates, SPC rear camber arms
- EBC YellowStuff pads w/ OE rotors, RBF600, SS lines
3.1L 240Z triple weber carb tuning (w/ new Stahl headers)
A collection of short clips / butt Dyno runs while tuning the triple Webers on my 3.1L 240Z. Open Exhaust. Unfortunately, I didn't have the benefit of an O2 sensor / AFR. All in all, I was pretty pleased with the final results, the new headers have really opened up the head's flow potential. Sounds good, too! :)
