93' Suburban 4x4 Cummins 4BT conversion 26 MPG!
The Suburban ran great and had fun driving it. The motor has excellent torque and driveability. pressure. The Exhaust is a 3" with a basic diesel muffler. Just took on a 1,900 mile trip and got the best of 26 MPG! That is without an Intercooler but will get one soon. Go to 4btswaps.com to see other vehicles like this.
I do not recommend this engine swap for an everyday driver only because of the vibrations are to shaky. If I were to do it again I would install a 5.9 Cummins. Again, the power and torque were not an issue and the fuel mileage increase definitely paid off but the vibrations at idle took some of the fun out of it. Just my opinion is all....
However, I wouldn't hesitate to install a 3.9 in a toy like a jeep.

1984 chevy 1/2 ton with 3.9L cummins turbo diesel engine custom header, he341 turbo from 03 dodge truck, 1999 4L80E trans with custom converter 1000rpm stall lowered 3". Should get around 28mpg and will get used for daily driving, built for super cheap (around a couple grand)
Diesel Jeep Wrangler
1999 Jeep Wrangler with a 4BT Cummins diesel, NV4500 "5"speed and 3.07 gears. We have put 50,000 miles on it after the conversion and it has ran GREAT!! 28-32 miles per gallon. Total conversion took us 5 weekends to complete, fit like a glove with a 2.5" lift. Water to air Intercooler (would do a Air to air next time).At 70 miles per hour the engine is turning about 1800 rpm (checked with a pulse meter tach.)I use the original jeep transfer case behind the NV4500, just needed to change input shaft. I was really aiming for the best mileage when I built this since we both have long freeway commutes to work.
