Dallenbach Racing and Banks Power have teamed up to take on this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Driver Paul Dallenbach has set records on the mountain before, and this year he's aiming to be the first person to beat the 10 minute mark in the Unlimited class. Helping him get there are two Banks turbochargers, which Boosted power output from a not-too-shabby 745 hp & 650 lb-ft to a whopping 1307 hp & 1206 lb-ft. This video was shot May 12, 2011 at the Pikes Peak International Raceway, and shows calibration development on a chassis Dyno, followed by the first shakedown test on the track. What makes this car special isn't just the Banks turbos—it's the team behind it. As opposed to other full paid race teams with full factory support, they are all volunteers working with a shoestring budget. Though the car is nearly 20 years old, and they have been running with a massive power disadvantage (until now!) they still run in the top 3 every year. Z06 and a 1,200 HP Scion at Sebring
In all fairness this was obviously the guy's first time at Sebring so I get that. When I go to a new track for the first time I usually try to find a local who knows the track and can show me around. I figure it will save me days trying to figure it out myself. Another approach I guess is to make sure you don't let anyone by because.......well actually I don't know why. Anyway, this is a 1,200 HP Scion that entered the Redline Time Attack event at Sebring August 2010. Was fun to watch it rocket down the straights but had to be careful not to rear end him. Never met the driver and I'm sure he's a cool guy. Incidentally, my car has over 600 HP and was totally left for dead on the straights. Pretty entertaining. Recorded in 720 HD.
