Rotary Power - Mazda RX-8
The first version of the RX-8, the SE3P, produced from model years 2003 to 2008, is powered by the "RENESIS" 13B-MSP (multi side port) Wankel rotary engine displacing 1.3 litres (twin 654 cc rotors) which, when coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, will typically produce 237 hp (177 kW) at 8,200 rpm and 211 Nm (ECE) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The multi side port engine improves on fuel efficiency and emissions over the RX-7's engine
The RX-8 is available in various models in different markets around the world. Standard models include:
6-speed manual "High Power" with an output of between 170 kW (231 hp) and 184 kW (247 hp) (250 PS) and a 9,000 rpm redline.
5-speed manual "Standard Power" tuned to 141 kW (192 hp) with the redline reduced to 7,500 rpm.
4-speed automatic tuned to 141 kW (189 hp) in some markets, while the U.S. automatic is stated to deliver 197 SAE net hp (158 kW).
6-speed automatic (available in the U.S. market as of 2006) developing 212 hp (158 kW) and 159 lb·ft (216 N·m) of torque with a redline at 7,500 rpm.
HD Mazda RX8 Tire Spin Ice & Snow Traction Control Off Stuck Speed Bump
We had an ice storm in Dallas followed by a a snow storm. It is a sheet of ice underneath the snow. With traction control on, the RX8 Drives fine in the snow. We took it off in this video to show the difference. There is a speed bump in front of the car and it can't get over it once you stop. As you can see it spins a lot without it on the ice. 9000rpm We did this for fun to show how much of a benefit traction control is.

2nd and 3rd gear - normally RX8 is much faster as you are changing 1st gear at 9000 rpm so you are starting 2nd gear from around 6000-7000 RPM - purpose of this video is to show engine performance during normal road conditions... not 0-60 race ....

Rx8 turns on for the first time in 6 months
Here is a video of the first time my 2004 RX8 turned on in about 6 months. Still has the same problem; it doesn't stay on unless i keep the RPMs up.
you will notice my check engine light turns on @ 0:34
if you skip ahead you will see that when i let go of the gas @ 2:08 the car turns off

Second session on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Finally let me pass after 1-3/4 laps. Both the BMW driver and I are advanced, high-performance driving instructors.
The RX-8 is completely stock except for a B&B muffler and Hawk HP Plus pads on the front. It does not have traction control or stability control. Tires are original stock street Potenzas. No doubt the M5 is stock too, and this has more to do with weight than horsepower.
Camera is a Creative Labs Vado cheapcorder stuck to the windshield with a suction cup cellphone holder. Video was recorded upside-down due to the mount, and was transcoded to rotate it. Quality suffered.
ExoticSpeed RII-Titanium on RX8
Got my new ExoticSpeed RII-Titanium installed yesterday. Here's a few clips shot with my phone (quality suffers as you can see).
Starting the car, followed by 2nd pull onto the highway, followed by 3rd gear pull onto highway.
I also have an AEM CAI, but it's not terribly audible over the roar from behind.
