2006 cobalt ss engine rattling sound
update: 22/3/2011 - This rattling sound caused me to get a brand new engine, under power train warranty luckily enough. $4,800 for the engine, plus whatever labor is what it would have cost me. Im guessing maybe would have cost around $7,000 at $100 an hour for labor. Anyway driving to work one morning I had the low battery and low oil pressure lights come on in the dash, I also noticed that the Boost would not go above zero, even if I put the pedal to the floor. By the time I got to the dealer the ABS light was on and the wiper blades were moving very slowly across the windshield. I figured my alternator was on its way out. My coolant temp was normal but the rattling sound had gotten louder. So the car was in the shop for about 4 weeks because I had to wait two weeks for a new engine to get shipped in.....heres some of the things they noted on my service invoice: - "key way on crank shaft sheared off causing crank to spin with out driving oil pump or accessories" - "found metal filings in base pan. inspected crank bearing failure present. Journals blue from lack of oil." - "found timing chain tensioner bolts broke off in cylinder head and block. unrepairable damage done to bolt holes and mounting area." Note: This video was taken the day i got my car back from the dealer saying they fixed the rattling sound. They said it seemed to go away once the car warmed up. A few weeks later I was driving to work in the morning when I experienced the problems as stated above.

2006 Cobalt SS Engine Noise
My car makes this sound on occasion. It is pretty loud and does NOT seem normal. It isn't always there-often its when sitting idle. It sounds as though it is coming driver side rear corner of the engine. Any suggestions? Oh, and I'm dropping DTC P0300 codes all day. Cam sensor?

Chevy Cobalt Start-up

Chevy Cobalt Electrical/Power Steering/Transmission Problem
Video of my 2006 Chevy Cobalt acting up like usual. Just had power steering motor replaced 1wk 2 days ago. You'll see all the lights on dashboard that are flashing, bells dinging for power steering, gauges flucuating, and video is very bumpy due to no power steering. Feels like it's locked up?! Also ticking/clicking noise comes from shifter and when video jumps it's due to car jumping bc transmission is slipping. I've been to several different dealerships and no one has a clue what's wrong. I am looking for any and all help anyone may have to offer. I am a 6 month pregnant wife and this car is all I have and it's terrifying to drive. Please anyone give me help. Or help us tell GM to own up bc I'm not the only one to have this problem. Thousands do! Thanks for any suggestions.

2009 Chevy Cobalt BUG
Dave shows you a potentially deadly electronics bug in this 2009 Chevy Cobalt he rented from a national rental car company. Did it come off the assembly line like this or did a service technician screw it up? Good thing Dave was letting air out instead of putting it in because this bug could cause you to explode a tire. Or you could simply drive with incorrect tire pressures and have a crash. Bottom line: if you buy this car, invest in a reliable tire pressure gauge and go by that, not the Cobalt's electronics!

A quick step by step video of how to replace the coupler in the nose shaft of the Eaton M90 Supercharger equipped on GM's 3.8L engines. The coupler fittings get loose over time and cause a terrible noise at idle which eventually leads to other issues including knock retard.
