RX-8 vs. 500 HP BMW M5 at VIR. Mazda RX-8 wins.
Second session on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Finally let me pass after 1-3/4 laps. Both the BMW driver and I are advanced, high-performance driving instructors. The RX-8 is completely stock except for a B&B muffler and Hawk HP Plus pads on the front. It does not have traction control or stability control. Tires are original stock street Potenzas. No doubt the M5 is stock too, and this has more to do with weight than horsepower. Camera is a Creative Labs Vado cheapcorder stuck to the windshield with a suction cup cellphone holder. Video was recorded upside-down due to the mount, and was transcoded to rotate it. Quality suffered.

Mazda RX8 R3 - Sound of the Rotary Engine
This is just a quick demonstration of the unique rotary sound within the cockpit. This is NOT a 0-60mph / 0-100kmh demonstration so don't go all "omgz so slow" as I didn't try for that, it's solely for sound. I'll post a 0-60 in the upcoming weeks.

Mazda RX8 R3 Driving - Exhaust from Interior
Late night drive recorded on my iPhone. Exhaust is stock, but still unique. (heart) .. the speed was set to KMH btw just to scare my friends lol the yellow light next to my gas is NOT the near empty indicator.. it's the indicator to let you know that the traction control is off.
