Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Cadillac SRX - etrailer.com

http://www.etrailer.com/tv-Hitch-install-2005-Cadillac-SRX.aspx Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today on this 2005 Cadillac SRX we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87661. This installation will also apply for Draw-Tite hitch part number 75174. We are underneath the vehicle and we need to do a couple of things in preparation to getting our hitch installed. We need to first lower the spare tire down and get it out of our way and we also need to remove the Exhaust off of both sides of the vehicle. There are three Exhaust brackets per side that we need to remove the Exhaust off of. Two at the rear, one at the forward side of the Exhaust just to the outboard side of the heat shield. To lower the Exhaust off of the rubber hangers we want to take a spray lubricant and spray down the studs. Then you can take a pry bar if necessary and pull those right off of there. 00:50 I do want to note that before you finish off with all six of the rubber hangers you do want to put some type of support strap across the forward side of the Exhaust tubes because once you have removed the Exhaust off of all of its hangers the Exhaust could fall and damage the system. With the Exhaust lowered off of its hangers we want to go back to the rear most Exhaust bracket that is attached nearest to the bumper. There is one on each side. We need to remove the Exhaust bracket from the vehicle. To do this there are three bolts holding it on. There is one here, one at the lower side, and then one on the outboard side. 01:21 With the nuts removed we can remove the Exhaust bracket. We do need to remove that from both sides of the vehicle. With that removed what we need to do is the bottom stud that was holding the bracket on, this is going to need to be cut and we are not going to reuse it to put the Exhaust bracket back up. The reason is it is going to interfere with us using this weld nut right here at the bottom of the frame. You want to try to cut it as close to the bolt head as you can. The lower stud is cut off of each side. We can point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. Here at the bottom of the frame rail we have got three existing weld nuts. These are going to provide our three attaching points for our trailer hitch on both the driver and passenger sides. We are going to be using new 12 millimeter bolts along with conical tooth washers to fasten the hitch to the vehicle. These weld nuts are likely going to have some corrosion and road grime built up in them so it is a good idea to thoroughly clean them out before we attempt to put the hitch up in position. To do this you want to use a spray lubricant and spray the weld nuts down thoroughly and then you want to take a wire brush and run that inside the weld nuts a few times and what that is going to do is loosen up that road grime and rust that is built up in there. You may need to do this a couple of times to insure that the bolt will go in properly and you want to do this at all six of the weld nut locations. 02:41 We have a heat shield on both sides of the frame rail and we are going to need to modify the heat shield a little bit. What we are going to need to cut is basically this area here and straight down on both of the heat shields on the driver and passenger sides. Kind of cut this section and fold it out of the way or you can completely cut it off. If you do decide to fold it make sure that it is not going to interfere with your spare tire when you put it back up in position. With the heat shield modified one more thing we need to do is put the Exhaust brackets back up into position. Again we are attaching to the two upper bolts. The lower one we cut off previously. You want to make sure you fully tighten it down. We will put the hitch up in to position now. Now that we have got the hitch up in position and all of the fasteners in place we can go through and torque the bolts down. You want to verify with the directions the specific torque rating for each of the bolts. With our bolts torqued down we just want to put our Exhaust back up on its hangers and put our spare tire back up into place and our installation will be complete. Now that we have got our hitch installed we want to give you a couple of final dimensions that will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 15-3/ 8 inches and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 1-1/ 2 inches. This will conclude the installation of Hidden Hitch part number 87661 on a 2005 Cadillac SRX.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Cadillac DeVille - etrailer.com
http://www.etrailer.com/tv-Wiring-Install-2000-Cadilliac-DeVille.aspx Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today on this 2000 Cadillac DeVille we will be installing part number 119176KIT. We are inside the trunk of the DeVille. We need to first gain access to the wires that we are going to need to tap into for our wiring harness. These wires are going to be located directly behind the driver side tail lights. First you need to start disassembling the trunk area so we can gain access to the wires. We need to remove the two set screws on the back of the tail light first. We will need to remove the same two on the passenger side as well. We are also going to remove the cover for the spare tire to give us a little more working room. Next we will remove the rear threshold piece here. With the four thumb screws removed we can just pry up on it to release the clips at the bottom side. Just set that off to the side for the time being. 00:48

Trailer Hitch Installation - 1996 Chevrolet 1500 - etrailer.com
http://www.etrailer.com/tv-Hitch-Install-1996-Chevy-1500.aspx Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today we are going to show you part number 75099 from Draw-Tite. We are going to install this on a 1996 Chevrolet pickup 1500 with an 8-foot bed. All right, the first thing we need to do on our install here is, we need to remove this bolt here, and the hitch will reinstall at this attachment here and also this hole right here, and the one back here, also. This one we will run a 1/2 inch bit through just to clean it out and dig out some of the rust and stuff, but basically it is really a no-drill application. We will go ahead and run the drill bit right through here just to clean it out. And maybe you will have to do this on yours or not, but it is always a good idea. And we will go ahead and remove this bolt and the same thing for the other side. OK, we will go ahead and install the hardware. The plate and the bolt go right here and another one goes through this hole right here. And go ahead and repeat it for the other side. Next, we can go ahead and install the hitch. On this one, it is kind of heavy so it is always a good idea to have an extra set of hands. You might have to push some hardware back in, so let us take some time out to fix that. Then go ahead and install the fasteners for the bolts going toward the front of the vehicle. And you definitely want to leave them loose. And we have the holes at the rear of the vehicle to install the bolts. OK, last we can get the bolts at the end of the frame. Just go ahead and thread those back in. You may have to clean it out and loosen the hitch a little bit to give some wiggle room to get those bolts in. At this point you can go ahead and snug them down, and then we will give them their final torque. All right, that covers our install of part number 75099 from Draw-Tite on a 1996 Chevrolet pickup 1500 with an 8-foot bed.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Cadillac SRX - etrailer.com
http://www.etrailer.com/tv-hitch-install-2010-cadillac-srx.aspx Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today on this 2010 Cadillac SRX we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87573. And this installation is also going to apply to Draw-Tite hitch part number 75682. Okay, we are underneath the vehicle now and we are going to need to do a couple things in preparation to installing our tailer hitch. The first thing that you want to do is go ahead and remove this fascia door that is at the bottom of the bumper here. And we can go that by removing the two Philip head screws that are attaching it at the bottom. And then just kind of gently rock away and release the clips at the top side here. We want to set the fascia door off to the side and it will not be reinstalled once the hitch is in position. 0:40 Then next we want to go ahead and remove the plastic spacer blocks that are attaching the bottom of the fascia to the bottom of the trunk pan here. To do that we need to remove the two push pins that are attaching the fascia to the plastic spacer blocks here at the bottom. And then also remove the 10 millimeter hex nut that is attaching the spacer block. To remove the push pins we need to take a flat head screwdriver and we are going to need to remove the center section first. And then we can take and remove the remaining portion of the fastener. We want to set those off to the side because these are going to be reinstalled once the hitch is in position. With those pieces removed, I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes. 1:31 Here at the bottom of the bumper, where we had already removed the fascia covering, we have two existing weld nuts. And those are going to provide our two center rear attaching points for the trailer hitch. And if you take a look at the inboard side of the frame, nearest the bumper, you can see we have two existing weld nuts there are well. And that is going to be the same on both sides of the vehicle. Those are going to provide our frame mounted attaching points for the hitch. You can see that the weld nuts are easily visible on the passenger side frame rail. However, on the driver side, we do have a wiring harness that is going to be in the way. So we do need to remove it off of its fasteners first so that we gain access to the second weld nut. To remove the wiring harness from the frame, we just need to release this retaining clip here at the bottom. And then we will just need to cut that tape that is holding the harness to the retaining clip. And with the harness removed off of the retaining clip here at the bottom, I am also going to remove the harness off of the two push pin fasteners that are attaching it to the frame. To do this, I am just going to be using a rivet removal tool here. 2:25 And now that we have all of the attachment points pointed out, we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We are going to be attaching the hitch to the vehicle using the 12 millimeter bolts that are provided with the installation kit, along with the conical tooth washers. Okay, now that we have all of the fasteners up into place, we can go ahead and start torquing our bolts down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each of the bolts. And now that we have all of the bolts torqued down, we can go ahead and put our wiring harness back up on to the frame. And then finally, we just want to put the black plastic spacers back up into position. And now that we have our hitch installed, we want to go ahead and give you a couple of dimensions that we going to make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening it is going to measure 17-1/2 inches. And from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to be approximately 4-1/2 inches. And that will conclude the installation of Hidden Hitch part number 87573 on a 2010 Cadillac SRX.,
