1975 Datsun 280z (Almost Finished)

Datsun 280Z - 3.1L Stroker - First drive with new jets
Well, this is the first drive with the new jets in. The progression circuit was causing trouble before. My idle jets were too small causing the progression circuit to lean out. Remember: Just because it's CALLED an idle jet doesn't mean it only controls idle. The other thing is that the idle mixture screws don't affect the progression circuit, so if your idle jets are too small, there is no getting around buying new ones.
Now it runs rich, though from here I have a ballpark to start tuning. It's presently got 135 mains, 185 air correction, 60F9 idle jets.
Datsun 1975 280z commercial...!

For Sale 1975 Datsun 280 Z Driving Clips.avi
This beautiful (sorry, you can't see it in this video) 5 speed 280 Z has an awesome running new 2.8 L with Clifford Research 4 barrel intake manifold. The Holley 390 sucked so I swapped a jetted and tuned Edelbrock 500 that combines the best of all worlds for performance, drive-ability, and reliability. Easy starts, hard pulls to redline, and great low RPM manners in the neighborhood and around town. I'm running hotter plug with less shrouding for faster warm-up and better around town drive-ability. Previously, for maximum performance, I've run the colder shade of NGK plug allowing for more ignition advance- it's pretty awesome! Enjoy the clips.

Mr. Demartaux (hope I spelled that right) takes us for a ride up Beech Mountain Parkway. This car rocks, and yes it is modified, slightly.... :)
