De certo modo ele decepciona, pois informações da imprensa local faziam esperar a estreia de uma versão de sete lugares e um aumento expressivo de potência. Facilmente identificado em termos de desenho com o anterior, o novo utilitário esporte traz melhorias em eficiência, mas por enquanto permanece com cinco lugares. As dimensões estão muito próximas às do antigo, mas a altura diminuiu 25 mm para um ar mais esportivo. No interior redesenhado, a posição de dirigir ficou mais semelhante à de um automóvel, segundo a Honda. Também novos são a câmera traseira de série que mostra imagens de 180 graus na tela central do painel, monitores de DVD para o banco traseiro com controle remoto, leitura de mensagens SMS pelo sistema de áudio e acesso a músicas na internet pelo sistema Pandora. Nos EUA, o único motor disponível é o quatro-cilindros de 2,4 litros com 185 cv (apenas 5 cv a mais que no antigo) e 22,5 m.kgf, com caixa automática de cinco marchas. A tração integral é de nova geração, mais rápida no acionamento das rodas traseiras (em condições normais de uso, apenas as dianteiras tracionam) e com menores atritos. A direção com assistência elétrica trabalha coordenada com o controle de estabilidade, de modo a inibir comandos do motorista que possam contribuir para desestabilizar o carro em situações críticas.
