First trip of the year. Featuring staff van driven properly at T13, me driving too fast through a yellow flag zone (60kmh) and getting disciplined heavily for it afterwards, Audi forgetting which side is for overtaking at hit-miss-hit and a beautiful red BMW 850 overtaking me just before Mutkurve and me not keeping up with him. Nice car overall, I didn't utilize even half of it's potential.

New York Auto Show: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
WOW! Jeep did an outstanding job on this new Grand Cherokee. It's just the thing people want in an SUV...power, off-road ability, and comfort all in one. The newly-designed Grand Cherokee features a 3.6L 280hp V6 engine that is to be more refine and get better fuel economy than the 3.7L currently in the SUV. Don't worry, the 5.7L HEMI will still be avaiable. The new Grand Cherokee features leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, seats, and even dash board...IN A JEEP!!! The steering wheel and seats are also heated and cooled. Now for the cool part! The 2011 Grand Cherokee features a new Quadra-Lift Air Suspension system. This allows the driver to pick between 5 different ride heights: Park Mode: -1.5in. from the normal ride height to make it easier for people to get in. Aero Mode: -.6in from the normal ride height for improved fuel economy Normal Ride Height: 8.1in of ground clearence Off-Road 1: +1.5in from normal ride height. Added height to tear throught snow, mud, etc... Off-Road2: +3in from normal ride height=11.1in of ground clearence (Best-In-Class) for crawling over rocks and such. Jeep says this model will be in dealer showrooms by the Spring/Summer of 2010. From what we can tell from these two photos, the Japanese automaker has changed the design again with the FR-S sporting a new front bumper that does away with the Geneva Show FT-86 II's aftermarket-like LED strips, while also featuring a different rear bumper and diffuser, as well as more pronounced rear fenders. The gaudy side vents are also gone while the study is equipped with different exterior mirrors. The most hotly anticipated model of the New York Auto Show, Scion's version of the Toyota FT-86 sports coupe concept, finally made its world premiere today. The study is named FR-S, which stands for 'Front-Engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport', though we prefer the definition given by Jack Hollis, Scion vice president, during the New York Show presentation. "FR-S stands for Front-engine... Rear-wheel drive... Sport. Pretty simple. I personally believe it should stand for Friggin' Really Sweet... but the legal department at Toyota was NOT feeling the same way," said Hollis. The first thing most readers will notice about the FR-S is the refined design compared to the latest concept version of the Toyota FT-86, shown in Geneva this past March. Though it's hard to pinpoint all the changes without having the cars side by side, the photos reveal a tweaked front end with revamped headlamps and a different bumper design without the aftermarket like add-on LED strips. Looking at the coupe's profile, we see beefier and more heavily sculptured front and rear fenders plus new side sills and mirrors, and larger alloy wheels with a different design. In addition, the FT-86 II's gaudy fender air vents have been removed. Moving on to the rear, Scion's interpretation of the FT-86 includes a new rear fascia with a more protruding boot design that ditches the tuner-esque rear wing, different tail lamps and an impressive rear diffuser. Other changes include the roof that projects into the rear windshield. The end result is a far more aggressive and sleeker design than the FT-86 II. Now here's hoping that Scion won't surprise us at the next major car show in the States with an FR-S II study... As expected, Scion said the production version of the FR-S, which will follow in 2102, will be fitted with the same 2.0-liter boxer engine sourced from Subaru as the Toyota model. However, the company revealed that the flat four engine will incorporate Toyota's D4-S injection system, which utilizes both direct and port injection, resulting in increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire powerband, without sacrificing MPG -- or at least that's what the company claims. Toyota's North American subsidiary, Scion, surprised us today at the opening of the 2011 New York Auto Show with the world premiere of its new FR-S sports coupe concept. We say 'surprised' not because we weren't expecting a Scion-badged Toyota FT-86 to make its appearance in the Big Apple, but because of its refined design that made us forget about the FT-86 II concept we saw less than two months ago at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Having brought you the first details and official photographs of the rear-wheel drive concept car, we now give you the first videos of the FR-S study. Unfortunately, there's no action going on here with Scion simply providing us a static promo film along with the usual B-roll walk around footage, but for those of you looking to explore all the fine details of the re-worked body, it's worth your time.
