Clarenville is approx 2hrs outside of St. John's, NL Canada and is one of the most popular stages in the Targa Newfoundland Tarmac rally. It takes place mainly in residential sections of the town and all roads are closed to public traverse while cars race around to compete in the Targa. Targa Newfoundland is a one of a kind race in North America and with only a handful of event like it in the world many competitors from all around the globe travel to compete every mid Sept. It's 7:30 on a cool May morning at the Nürburgring. I strap into the (left-side) passenger seat of the STI prototype used a month prior to set Subaru's latest lap time. We're given the all-clear for a half-hour of 'Ring fun.

Subaru drivers meeting in the mountains
The long awaited opening of the 2010 winter driving season.

We met together to have some fun and improve driving skills on the frist really snowy day of this winter. The driving is quite catious by the time, generally due to lack of snowbanks - no mistakes are forgiven ;)
The silver sedan with the air inlet in the hood is in fact 2.0 sport edition, without turbo. The blue sedan, blue wagon and another silver sedan are also naturally aspirated 2.0 RX versions. Although they sound differently due to different Exhaust manifolds. The black wagon is driven by some quick guy and it runs brand new winter tires with tons of nice soft tread. Thus the grip and awesome speeds in the corners.
This time I am driving my own car which is the blue sedan. But if there will be some more snow I will definitely take the WRX in which I don't have to complain about lack of power :)
None of the car is equipped with studded tires.
