Hi! I just put a better engine in this ol' Mercedes "Heckflosse", lets go for a drive! I bought this car about a dozen years ago, but now I can actually use it. It seems to be running well on the Holley carb I adapted to replace the twin Zeniths. A mostly original car, I painted it metallic black a few years ago when I rebuilt all the jacking points. Mercedes Heckflosse mit Klaus Ludwig auf der Nordschleife
Mercedes-Benz Classic unterstützt den FHR Langstreckencup und beim letzten
Rennen der Saison 2011 kam erstmals ein neu aufgebauter Mercedes Benz 220SE
der Baureihe W111 zum Einsatz.
Das Konzept von Mercedes-Benz Classic sieht vor, daß sich ein Journalist
und ein erfahrener "Haudegen" das Cockpit der Heckflosse teilen. Auf der
Nordschleife griffen der englische Journalist Andrew Fankel und sowie Klaus
Ludwig in das Volant. Das Video zeigt vom Streckenrand und eine
Inboardrunde über die Nordschleife mit Klaus Ludwig.
Driving a mile in The Emerald Bullet 1962 Mercedes W111
Take a drive with me in the Emerald Bullet. I feel more torque with the
2.8 liter motor than I did with the 2.2 liter. My butt Dynometer says it is much faster. How does the engine sound to
you? Is this what a 2.8 liter Mercedes Benz engine is supposed to sound
like? Notice all the gauges and the clock working.

Didn't manage to get every square inch of footage I took into this 10
minute clip, however I made sure the part I considered interesting (LIKE
THE S600 W140) fully presented. Hope fellow Benz enthusiasts enjoy it.
Cold Start the 1971 Citroen DS 21 Safari!
Cold War Motors just bought this great old Citroen DS. It's a bit tatty and
will need a restoration (as soon as I'm finished my other one!), but still
runs and drives nicely. These old Cits are a bit grumpy in the cold, and
this one hasn't been on the road for a while now, so the battery was pretty
tired. I hooked up some cables to a better battery to see if we could get
her running for a last little drive before it gets put into storage. I just
love these cars, and I wanted a break (wagon) to go with my sedan. This one
is a standard shift with power steering and brakes. Looks like Stella
wants to go for a ride, too!

This is a very nice Good Driving old Mercedes i have not even washed it yet

The Mercedes-Benz W180 is a 6-cylinder sedan, coupé, and convertible made
from 1954 to 1959. The models associated with the W180 chassis code were
the 220a and 220S. The latter has often been identified as the first
E-Class, though Mercedes-Benz did not officially adopt the E-Class
nameplate for its midsize line until 1984.
The W180 was one in a series of Mercedes-Benz models to informally receive
the "Ponton" nickname. This was in reference to the unibody-type,
pontoon-shaped exterior styling which was also featured on the later W128
The 220a was succeeded in March 1956 by the 220S, which was externally
almost identical, but had an upgraded version of the 2.2L inline-six (100
PS (74 kW; 99 hp), later 106 PS (78 kW; 105 hp)), due to the use of
Visually, the 220S featured a new one piece front bumper, instead of the
3-piece bumper used on the 220a. Also, the twin chrome and rubber strips
running under the doors of the 220a were replaced with solid chrome strips.
The most obvious difference is the addition of a chrome strip running along
the front fenders and doors of the 220S.
The 220S was available with a 4-speed column shift manual transmission,
with an optional Hydrak automatic clutch. This made use of small
microswitches on the gear selector that automatically disengaged the clutch
when the driver changed gears. Many cars have subsequently been converted
to use a standard clutch, due to the high maintenece costs of continuing to
use the Hydrak clutch.
Also introduced with the 220S was the W105 219, which from the a-pillar
forward was essentially a single-carburettor 220a, but rearward from the
a-pillar it used the shorter body of the W120/W121 180/190 models. Make
