Dieses vielfach preisgekrönte Sicherheitssystem kann jetzt noch mehr: Leitete es bisher vor langsamer vorausfahrenden Hindernissen bei Gefahr eines Auffahrunfalls automatisch eine Bremsung ein, so wird der neue Active Brake Assist 2 auch vor stehenden Hindernissen aktiv, etwa einem überraschenden Stau. Der Active Brake Assist hat bisher in mehr als 14 000 Lkw und über mehr als einer Milliarde Kilometer auf den Straßen Europas seine Leistungsfähigkeit überzeugend in der Praxis unter Beweis gestellt.

Electronic braking assistant
For maximum active safety, the additional braking assistant function is integrated in the EBS5 electronic braking system. The braking assistant recognises when the brakes are being applied in emergency situations by taking into account the speed and intensity with which the brake pedal is operated. Independently of the driver, the system then applies the maximum available braking force to the wheel brake cylinder. This considerably reduces the stopping distance. An accident is avoided.
