How To Fix Malfunctioning Rearview Mirrors
This is a short and dirty video describing how to repair rearview mirrors with various electrical malfunctions such as nonworking or intermittent map lights, compass, temperature display, and autodim functions. The cause of the issue is more than likely related to the power connector on the back of the mirror. Over time, being adjusted from side to side or up and down causes what I like to call the "bent paper clip effect". If bent back and forth enough the solder connection would be severed. This is repaired by simply "retouching" the connections- heating them with a soldering iron and adding more solder to strengthen the bond.
BONUS: In the near future I will be doing a video showing how to replace your standard rearview for one with compass and autodim function.
