The Honda Civic Si first appeared in 1984 Japan when the Civic was in its third generation. Really though, it was the 1999 Honda Civic Si that proved to be the car that laid the groundwork for this current model reviewed here thanks to the high revving V-Tech engine and sporty handling. Now for the 2013 model year we get a nice refresh that includes a larger 2.4 liter engine, lower curb weight, stiffer chassis, and nice exterior enhancements. The 2013 Honda Civic Si has a base price of $22,515 and can be had in either coupe or sedan layout.
The Honda Civic Si is the performance variant of the regular Civic model. The overall lines of the car are raked back quite a bit giving the Si a sleek design. The 17-inch alloy wheels and rear spoiler add to the overall sporty appeal of this car. The real magic live under the hood with the 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 201 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual with a Helical Limited-Slip Differential.
For 2013 Honda has upgraded the Civic Si's interior adding nicer materials and including a number of new standard features. Bluetooth with streaming audio capability, Pandora internet radio, a USB connection, and SMS Text Messaging all come standard. The Si is decked out with sport bolstered front seats and aluminum pedals.
The 2013 Honda Civic Si is fun to drive. You can really rev the car all the way in order to access all the power. The ride is firm and the handling is confident allowing you to tear up the road and hit the turns. Engine response is precise, the brakes are outstanding, and the mechanical refinement is unmatched by others in this segment. Honda has been building the Civic Si for a long time and this latest edition provides plenty to like.
