How to drive Nurburgring by someone who knows what they are doing
An experienced driver, Dale, from Rent4Ring taking me round the Nurburgring in my Nissan GTR.
At the end we catch up with a Porsche driven by an Italian who just won't move over until the end of the lap by which time we are going in anyway. Dale the instructor does his "Italian driver" impression!

The Evolution Of The Drift Angle - 50 Years Sideways
If you're at all interested in the sport of rallying, and indeed sideways motoring, then this is one documentary you shouldn't miss. It was created by Helmut Deimel a few years ago now but it showcases 50 years of rally motorsport all in one film.
Overall, some great footage is shown in the film including classic rally imagery from the 1960s as well as ice rally footage from northern Europe.
The documentary also talks with some of the greatest rally drivers of all time, such as Walter Rohrl, Stirling Moss and Timo Makinen, as well as modern-day drivers such as Mika Hakkinen, Richard Burns and Juha Kankkunen.
The best aspect of the film though is that it features more than an hour of sideways action from classic rally cars including the Mini Cooper, Porsche 911, Datsun 1600, Ford Escort, Audi Quattro and various Morris, Jaguar, BMW, Citroen, Saab and Peugeot classics.

BMW M3 E46 Roll-over crash in Nürburgring VLN race
I pull the trusty pocketcam out just as the first few drops of rain fall on Wehrseifen. An E46 driver loses control on the entry to the corner, and ends up rolling all the way around. Race was the VLN #2 of 2012 and this was only the second lap of a four-hour event!
Ariel Atom Nurburgring Nordschleife
Fourth lap of the Nordschleife, I clocked the time to be 9:12 which is slow, but there were three Yellow flags to slow down for so I think a more respectable 8:12 would have been possible. Looking back at the video it's easy to say should have been flat out in several areas, we touch 130mph in place. But unless you have driven this track and know where the bends go after blind corners you need more than 4 laps to know your way around! So I was happier to back off have a slower time and still be able to drive the car back to the UK and not be on a tow truck.

Radical Smash Nordschleife Lap Record
Peterborough sportscar manufacturer Radical Sportscars has smashed the Nürburgring production car lap record, with driver Michael Vergers posting a committed 6m48s lap time. The road-legal SR8LM smashed the previous record, also held by Radical since 2005, by an incredible eight seconds. All this, less than 24 hours after the car was driven from England to Germany for the record.
German motoring magazine Sport Auto oversaw the attempt, with the UK's evo magazine confirming the time, which will be officially finalised tomorrow (Thursday).
Conditions for the record were perfect, with clear skies and temperatures in the high 20s. Vergers initially battled with the Nordschleife's fearsome kerbs, jumps and bumps, but soon found the ideal setup, inspiring confidence to push harder.
"The car was great, I could push really hard and it felt clearly faster than the previous SR8 in 2005," said Vergers. "It's fantastic that we've beaten the record; hopefully I'll get an opportunity to return with Radical in the future."
Radical co-founder Mick Hyde said: "I'm obviously delighted, the record has been a real team effort headed up by Phil Abbott and Rob Wheldon. Dunlop have supplied us with brilliant, hard-wearing trackday tyres, indeed we've only used one set to both drive to the 'Ring, and set the record.
"We've proved that the SR8LM is not only the world's best trackday car, but it's also practical enough to drive to and from the circuit. It is a genuine production sportscar, with genuine performance credentials, as we've shown today."
